The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58

–Elara–

:

I was pacing, still shaking with rage, when the door opened without a knock.

I turned around, my chest still burning with the humiliation I suffered.

Lucien walked in with a slow, smug smile.

He leaned on the doorframe, watching me like a hawk.

I stopped pacing and turned to face him.

“What do you want?” I spun towards him.

Lucien closed the door behind him, ignoring my rage.

“You look worse than I expected. Did the guards drag you out or something?”

I glared at him. “Say one more word, Lucien, and I’ll claw your face off.”

Lucien smirked. “You could try. But you and I both know your nails only work on weaker men.”

My eyes went feral, burning with uncontrollable rage.

I hissed, “Get out of here.”

“Why?” Lucien muttered, smirking a little. “Can’t I check on my fiancée?”

“Don’t call me that!” I snapped. “This isn’t happening. I want you to reject me.”

Lucien blinked once.

“Lucien, reject me. Tell the circle you don’t want to take Theo’s place”. I hissed, “Do it now, don’t accept the engagement. I don’t want you, I never wanted you?”

Lucien looked at me, and a glimmer of hurt flashed in his eyes for a second.

Then he laughed softly, cruelly and probably delighted.

He took one slow step toward me. He blinked once and laughed hysterically.

“Reject you?” he echoed. “Why in the goddess’ name would I ever do that?”

Elara flinched, humiliation burning her skin.

“Because this isn’t what I want!” I snapped. “I love Theo, I’m supposed to be his Luna”

Lucien tilted his head, eyes glinting.

“But Theo doesn’t want you,” Lucien muttered. “The circle had rejected you as well. Even your father is not fighting for you anymore”

His smile widened. “And now, you’re mine. Stuck with me”

I forgot my pride and marched in front of Lucien. I feel both desperate and furious at the same time.

“I don’t want this!” I yelled, running a hand through my hair. “Theo was supposed to choose me. Not her. And now you expect me to stand beside you as if nothing happened?”

Lucien’s smile widened.

“Yes. I do.”

I froze, stunned.

Lucien walked closer, lowering his voice.

“I’ve wanted you since we were kids, Elara. You know that. I never hid it.”

I looked away, jaw clenching. “That doesn’t matter. I don’t want-”

“It matters to me,” he cut in. “I’m not rejecting you. Not now. Not ever.”

My breath trembled, fury mixing with desperation.

“Lucien, please…. Dont do this”

Lucien leaned in, his voice dropping to a mocking whisper.

“I’ve wanted you for years,” Lucien breathed loudly. “I always wanted everything Theo had, you, included” A thin smile crept to his lips. “And now the circle just handed you to me”

I felt my heart searing with anger. I wanted to claw his face and gouge his eyes out.

But I had to control myself.

My breath stuttered, but I held back.

“Lucien, this engagement is humiliating. I can’t tie myself to you like this.”

Lucien winked at me, laughing dryly.

“You think I care why the council chose me? Elara, I’ve waited years for any reason to stand beside you.”

I swallowed, taken aback by the intensity in his eyes.

Lucien stepped even closer, voice dipping.

“You finally became mine. I’m not letting that go.”

My lips parted, but no words came out.

Lucien tilted his head.

“And why would you want to reject me? You think Theo will come back? You think Kaia will disappear? Elara… that fantasy is gone.”

My eyes burned, rage and shame swirling together.

“I don’t want to be stuck with you.”

Lucien walked to me and stroked a tear off my cheek with cruel satisfaction.

“Why should I reject the one thing I’ve always wanted?”

I shoved his hand away, shaking with hatred.

Lucien only smirked, straightening his jacket.

Lucien’s jaw ticked, but his voice stayed calm.

“You don’t have to want me today. I’m patient. I’ve always been patient with you.”

“Elara, when you’re done crying over Theo, you’ll remember I’m the one who stayed. I always stayed.”

He moved to the door, glancing back with a quiet, deadly promise.

I glared daggers at him, but he only smiled. He looked satisfied and victorious.

He didn’t hide it. I don’t think he planned to.

Lucien opened the door.

“And don’t ask me to reject you again,” he said softly. “I’ve waited too long for you. I’m not letting go of this chance”

My jaw locked, trembling with controlled rage. Lucien is pushing my buttons.

“Whether you cry, scream and throw a tantrum… The answer is still no”

He turned, walking away with a victorious swagger

“Get used to it, fiancée”

Once Lucien left, I realised I’m not getting out of this easily.

That son of a btch thinks he has a chance with me.

But after a quick thought, I realised I was trapped. And I wasn’t escaping.

Not easily.

Chapter 58

I stood there, frozen, for a full second.

Then I snapped.

:

I grabbed a vase from the table and hurled it at the wall. It shattered with a sharp crack.

“NO!,no, no! This is not happening,” I screamed, pulling my hair.

I kicked the side table, sending it skidding across the floor.

My chest heaved with a broken breath.

I felt my hands trembling violently.

“This is not happening. I’m not marrying that good-for-nothing”

I clutched my hair, sinking to my knees.

“He stole everything from me,” I whispered, with a breath broken. “Everything.”

A sob tore from my throat, bitter and furious.

I crawled to the edge of my bed and punched the mattress until my knuckles bruised.

“He chose her? That pathetic little… Nobody? Over ME?”

My breathing spiralled-too fast, too uneven.

One of my attendants burst in, shocked at my condition.

“My lady-”

“GET OUT!” I shrieked.

The girl froze, but she didn’t leave.

I snatched her mirror off the vanity and slammed it onto the floor.

“He did this!” I shrieked. “Theo did this to me! And now I’m stuck with his useless brother, who thinks this is some dream come true!” I said, spiralling.

“He can’t do this to me,” she whispered, shaking my head.

The attendant rushed over, trying to hold me, but I shoved her away.

“Elara, please-”

“DON’T SAY MY NAME!” I screamed at her.

I paced back and forth, fingers clawing at my hair.

:

“He was supposed to be mine,” I said, shaking. “I was supposed to be Luna!” I screamed.

“I was supposed to stand beside Theo. Not… not Lucien!”

My knees buckled, and I caught myself on the edge of the mattress.

“How could he choose her?” she whispered.

“How could he humiliate me like this?”

“My lady, please get a hold of yourself”

“SHUT UP!” I snapped, my eyes raging wild. “If any of you speak again, I swear I’ll rip your tongues out.”

The attendants flinched back, terrified.

I sucked in a shaky breath, tears streaking her cheeks.

“He thinks he can just…. hand me off to Lucien?”

A sharp and bitter laughter escaped my lips.

“Lucien. Fucking, annoying Lucien.” My voice dripped with disgust. “I will NOT marry him.”

The attendants exchanged nervous glances.

One whispered, “But the Circle already made their decision”

My head whipped toward her. “I don’t CARE about the Circle.”

I”I will not be pushed aside. Kaia will not replace me.” I stood up straighter, trembling with fury. Kaia really thinks she’s safe just because he said her name?”

My hands curled into fists. “I’ll tear that bond apart before it ever solidifies.”

“My lady, please calm down”

“No! I will not calm down,” I hissed.

The attendant reached for me. This time, I let her.

She’s been working for me for years; she’s practically my friend now.

My attendant hugged me tightly, patting my back.

“Elara, sweetheart… maybe this is for the best-”

I snapped her head up, eyes blazing.

“The best?” I hissed. “You think this is the best? I am not marrying Lucien. I won’t. I refuse.”

“Elara, please listen to me”, my attendant pleaded.

“I’ll ruin them,” I said, ignoring her. My voice came out cold and deadly. “Both of them”

I walked to the door, my hands curled into fists.

“Kaia thinks she can take what’s mine?” I gritted. “She thinks she can stand beside Theo where I was supposed to be?”

I leaned forward, trembling with rage.

“She has no idea who she’s dealing with.”

My attendant swallowed nervously.

“Elara…please”

I wiped tears with a shaking hand, my smearing all over, but I didn’t care.

“Kaia won’t get a happy ending,” I gritted with rage. “Not with my Alpha.”

My attendant lips parted in alarm. “Elara… what are you planning?”

I looked away with my jaw locked.

“Whatever it takes to get rid of Kaia.”
