“I’ve been dieting for days. The only thing I’ve eaten besides that box of chocolates is coffee. There’s no way I gained 15 pounds in one week! I sent the chocolates to a lab, and the test results prove someone deliberately added hormones to them! Katrina, you’re unbelievable.”
A collective
gasp escaped the students eavesdropping outside the office.
“No way. Putting hormones in someone’s food is terrifying.”
“Katrina’s so sweet–she’d never drug Ms. Bell!”
It was the juiciest gossip the students had ever heard.
Dora’s face darkened. Staring at the lab report, she grabbed Katrina roughly. “Katrina, is this true? Did you do this?”
Katrina’s face went pale.
She never imagined a single box of chocolates would spiral into something this serious.
“N–No… it wasn’t me. I didn’t do it…”
“You’re still lying? You’re just a kid, and you’re already drugging people? Imagine what you’ll be like when you’re older! I’m calling your parents right now–this needs to be handled properly!”
Lisa dragged Katrina toward the phone. Calling her parents was Katrina’s biggest fear; she didn’t want everyone to see her driver father show up and humiliate her.
Tears streamed down Katrina’s face. Just then, Chase stepped forward. “I put the hormones in the chocolates. Katrina had nothing to do with it.”
Chase’s sudden confession sparked quiet murmurs among the crowd.
Everyone could see he was taking the blame for Katrina.
Katrina’s eyes were red from crying. Chase stepped closer and pulled her behind him. “I did it. If you’re calling parents, call mine.”
Honestly, that move was pretty slick.
At least to the teenage girls watching, Chase’s move seemed incredibly heroic.
But Nina only thought it was stupid.

Chapter 13 The Chocolate Scandal
If Chase wanted to take the fall for Katrina, he would have to pay for his foolishness.
Drugging someone’s food violated not just school rules, but the law.

Sure enough, Chase’s mother was called to the school that afternoon. When Cecilia learned her son was covering for Katrina, her opinion of the girl dropped even lower.
But the matter didn’t end there. Lisa insisted on calling the police and demanded severe disciplinary action against Chase. After Cecilia begged repeatedly, the school agreed not to involve the police, though the Mercer family paid 200 thousand dollars in compensation, and Chase received a major disciplinary mark on his record.
A major mark during sophomore year was devastating.
It could ruin Chase’s chance of getting into the top university he’d always dreamed of.
Nina was in an excellent mood that day. Her workout motivation was higher than ever.
In just over ten days since her rebirth, she’d already lost 20 pounds. Weight loss would only get harder from here, but she’d made a fantastic start.
With finals approaching, every student in Class A was studying nonstop–practicing problems and memorizing notes day and night.
All except Chase. After the incident, he’d completely given up. He skipped class to play basketball or snuck off with Katrina.
Nina wasn’t surprised.
Katrina was his first love, and now that he’d finally won her over, studying was the last thing on his mind.
As for Katrina, she probably assumed she’d marry into a wealthy family after graduation, so she saw no point in studying either.
