Katrina stood there, her entire body trembling uncontrollably.

Hearing the commotion, Wilder rushed downstairs. When he saw his mother’s pale, shaken face, he ran to her side.
“Mom!”
“Wilder…” Katrina pulled him into a tight embrace. A dark, cold look flashed in her eyes. “Wilder, you don’t want to lose me, do you?”
Wilder nodded immediately.
Katrina’s grip tightened. “Then you’ll do exactly what I tell you from now on, right?”
“I’ll always listen to you, Mom,” Wilder said without hesitation.
Only then did Katrina’s expression soften. She let out a faint, unsettling smile.
“That’s my good boy.”
That evening, Katrina walked into the bedroom to find Chase already getting ready for bed.
She had changed into the revealing red lingerie she’d bought earlier that day and moved to stand directly in front of him.
Chase barely spared her a glance. “It’s late,” he said. “Go to sleep.”
Katrina bit her lip before climbing into bed and wrapping her arms around him, pressing herself tightly against his side. “Chase… about what you said today,” she whispered. “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear it. I’ll just assume you were upset. We’ve been through so much together–you remember all of that, don’t you?”
He didn’t answer, the impatience written clearly across his face.
Katrina always brought up the past, but the reality was that he hadn’t known a single day of peace when they were together back then.
Oblivious to his mood, she continued, “You promised me once that you’d only ever love me. You haven’t forgotten that, have you?”
When he still didn’t respond, she leaned in to kiss his cheek.

This time, Chase pushed her away without hesitation. “I’m tired,” he said coldly. “Go to sleep.”
With that, he turned his back on her.
Katrina’s expression darkened. In the past, simply holding her would have made him lose control–yet now, even with her dressed like this, he didn’t react at all. It had been three months since they had last shared an intimate moment.
The thought dragged her mind back to that other night–the night she had spent with another man. Her frustration only deepened.
The next morning, Katrina pretended to still be asleep, carefully posing herself in a flattering way as she waited for Chase to wake up.
Sure enough, when he opened his eyes, she was lying there, almost completely exposed.
But there was no desire in his gaze. Since his encounter with that woman at The Onyx Club, he had realized just how bold and experienced some women could be. By comparison, Katrina felt dull–too thin and lacking any real allure.
At that moment, the only person on his mind was Nina.
Seeing him get out of bed without a word, Katrina immediately opened her eyes. “Chase? Why are you up so early?”
“Something came up at the office,” he replied flatly, heading into the bathroom.
Watching him go, Katrina gripped the sheets tightly, her face clouding over. In all their years together, Chase had never treated her with such cold indifference.
In the living room, Cecilia looked Katrina up and down and said, “Sleeping in later than your own husband–what kind of behavior is that? Go make breakfast.”
Under Cecilia’s urging, Katrina swallowed her frustration and went to cook for the family. She couldn’t risk a divorce with Chase, not now–so for the time being, she had no choice but to play along.
Before long, she noticed Chase’s phone ringing on the table. The caller ID showed Nina.
The moment she saw Nina’s name, everything about Chase’s attitude toward her that day came rushing back. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. She walked over, picked up his phone, and hung up the call.
