“So he’s just the Sawyer family driver. I knew Mr. Sawyer wouldn’t dress like that.”

“Makes sense. Katrina’s dad runs the Sawyer Group–he’s way too busy to come to school.”
Tara and the other students chatted away, leaving Katrina forced to force a stiff, awkward smile.
David, standing beside her, clearly realized she was lying to her classmates, pretending to be the Sawyer heiress. He gently tugged her arm and whispered, “Katrina, how could you—”
“How dare you!” Katrina shoved him away, panicking. “Who gave you permission to call me by my first name? You’re just a driver for the Sawyer family. I’m letting you off because you’re old, but don’t get too bold!”
Tara chimed in, “Right? A lowly driver like you dares to put your hands on your boss‘ daughter? Know your place!”
David’s face darkened. Fearing her father would expose her real identity, Katrina hurriedly pushed him toward the door. “Ms. Reed is waiting for you in the office! Move!”
Seeing how desperate his daughter was, he knew she was terrified of being found out. Though he hated what she was doing, he nodded humbly and walked away, wanting her to fit in at school.
Tara complained, “Katrina, your driver has no manners at all.”
“Probably thinks he’s important just because he’s worked for the Sawyers a long time!”
Katrina listened to her classmates insult her father, her smile painfully forced.
Nearby, Nina pretended to study but wore a clear, amused smirk.
“What are you smiling at?” Jensen asked.
“Just something funny.”
“What’s funny?”
“You wouldn’t get it… But I bet someday you will.”
Watching Katrina panic over her secret, Nina felt deeply satisfied. She couldn’t wait to see how Katrina would fix this mess when her lies finally fell apart.

Half an hour later, David stepped out of the office with a grim expression. Katrina paled at the sight, but with Tara and the others watching, she forced herself to stay calm and walked over. “Are we done here? Then hurry up and leave!”
Her tone was sharp and commanding.
She was desperate to get her father away, but Tara stepped forward at that exact moment. “Mister, Katrina just had a bad test. You know what to say to your boss, right?”
David stayed silent. Tara thought he was being ungrateful and snapped, “Chase told us to look after Katrina. If you dare say anything, we–and Chase–won’t let you get away with it!”
Tara thought her threat was powerful, but Nina barely held back laughter.
Perfect.
Not only had her grades crashed and her parents been called, but now her secret relationship was exposed too.
Katrina felt like crying from frustration. She quickly pushed her father forward. “Enough! I want to go home. Go get the car!”
David, already boiling with anger, suddenly shoved her away and slapped her hard across the face.
The blow burned Katrina’s cheek.
Tara flew into a rage. “Are you crazy? Katrina is a wealthy heiress! You’re just a driver–who do you think you are hitting her?!”
“Because I am-”
“Shut up!”
Panicked, Katrina slapped her father right back. The strike caught him off guard, and he stumbled back several steps.
Katrina lifted her chin high, her voice dripping with threat. “This is school, and you dare to hit me in front of my classmates? I know my daddy lets you get away with a lot, but you’re still just a Sawyer driver! Don’t think you can punish me! Now go get the car–do you want everyone laughing at the Sawyer family?!”
