In her mind, Nina’s trip to the clinic was a done deal.

But the next second, Nina walked straight up to Katrina. Thinking she might do something, Chase quickly pulled Katrina behind him.
“Nina, what are you trying to do?” he demanded.
“Relax, Chase. I just want Katrina to take a closer look–see if I looked like this when she supposedly saw me at the clinic.”
Behind him, Katrina suddenly felt uneasy. “Nina… I didn’t mean to spread it around, but I really did see you coming out of that clinic that day. If there’s some other explanation, you can just tell everyone.”
“So when I came out of the clinic, I looked exactly like this?” Nina asked.
Katrina nodded without hesitation. “Of course. I just didn’t realize it was you at the time. It wasn’t until the day you went to Mountain Resort that I connected the dots and realized the person I saw that day was you.”
“Which clinic?”
“It’s in the city center… on Fifth Avenue.”
“Be specific.”
“The Radiant Institute.”
Katrina answered smoothly. Nina gave a faint smile. “Katrina, you’ve never had any cosmetic work done, right?”
“Of course not!”
Seeing Nina press her again and again, Tara stepped in. “Nina, Katrina’s a natural beauty, unlike someone like you. Don’t drag her into your mess.”
“Calm down. I’m just pointing out something simple,” Nina said evenly. “In TV dramas, people walk into a clinic and come out beautiful right away–but that’s not how it works in real life. If you’d said I came out wrapped in bandages, I might’ve believed you. But… if my face really had been covered in bandages, Katrina, how exactly would you have recognized me?”
Katrina’s face went pale.

Tara froze for a second. Noticing the doubt spreading through the class, she quickly tried to recover. “W–who knows what you did at that clinic? Maybe you just had liposuction.”
“Liposuction leaves needle marks,” Nina replied calmly. “Go ahead–take a look. Do you see any on me?”
Her composure made the others waver.
Unable to argue back, Tara tugged at Katrina’s sleeve. “Katrina, say something. You saw her that day, didn’t you? Don’t worry–we all believe you!”
Katrina glanced at Tara, then at the rest of the class. When her eyes met Nina’s again, her confidence faltered.
The whole cosmetic clinic story had been something she made up on the spot. She’d never expected it to spiral this far. If it ever came back to haunt her, she’d be exposed for deliberately targeting Nina and spreading rumors.
“Maybe… maybe I was mistaken.”
She looked pitiful as she hurried to add, “Nina, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have caused everyone to misunderstand you. I’m really sorry.”
Seeing her back down, Tara snapped, “Katrina, what are you afraid of? Didn’t you say you saw her with your own eyes?”
“Tara, it’s my fault. I got the wrong person…” Katrina said softly. “We’re all classmates, and it turned into such a mess. I’m really sorry–and you even got hit because of it.”
Her apologetic tone only made Tara feel worse. Shooting Nina a glare, she said, “Fine, maybe the surgery thing was a mistake. But you’re living with Jensen—that’s definitely true! I’m going to tell the teacher and let them see what kind of person you really are, Nina!”
She turned as if to storm out of the classroom–but before she could take a single step, Jensen walked in through the door.
The moment she saw him, Tara’s face went pale.
Each step he took carried a heavy, intimidating presence as he approached her with a cold expression.
Everyone in the class was afraid of him. There were rumors he’d once been in a group fight and nearly crippled someone. Even though he ranked first in the entire grade, he’d still been placed in the worst class, Class F.
