Katrina had hoped to get information about Nina’s family background from Chase, but her question hit a nerve.

“I have nothing to do with her. Whether her family is rich or not is none of my business.”

It was the first time Katrina had heard such irritation in Chase’s voice. She quickly said, “I’m sorry, I was just asking—”

Seeing her flustered look, Chase realized he’d been too harsh. He softened his tone. “It’s okay. I know you’re worried I like her. Don’t be. The only person I like is you. I would never go for someone as ugly as Nina.”

Katrina blushed. “Chase…”

Just as Katrina leaned into Chase’s arms, she suddenly saw Nina standing right behind him.

Nina had just walked up the stairs and witnessed the whole scene.

Katrina panicked and pushed Chase away. “Nina, it’s not what you think! I just-”

When Chase heard Nina’s name, he pulled Katrina tightly back against him. “There’s nothing to misunderstand. We like each other. Katrina is my girlfriend.”

Chase smirked at Nina, desperate to see pain and regret on her face.

After all, Nina had always had a crush on him, following him around like a lost puppy and even losing weight for him.

He wanted her to know that refusing to marry into the Mercer family would be the biggest mistake of her life.

But instead of looking upset, Nina pointed at them calmly toward the approaching dean of

students.

“Mr. Kent, Chase and Katrina are dating in school!”

At the sight of Bruce Kent, the dean of students, Katrina immediately broke free from Chase’s embrace.

She was supposed to be the perfect student in the teachers‘ eyes. If they found out she was dating, her reputation would be ruined.

Unlike Chase, she wasn’t a wealthy heiress–she’d only gotten into Linholt High School through her father’s connections to the Sawyer family.

If her grades slipped, this elite school could kick her out at any time.

Sure enough, when Bruce saw the two top students hugging in public, he snapped, “You two, come with me to my office!”

Chase and Katrina were led away. Before leaving, Chase shot Nina a murderous glare.

Nina was unimpressed by Chase’s childish behavior.

The current Chase couldn’t really hurt her at all.

After class, Katrina returned to the classroom crying. The other students crowded around her, asking what had happened.

But Katrina only stared at Nina with hatred.

Moments later, Chase burst into the room furiously and grabbed Nina’s arm roughly. “Come with me!”

He was so strong that he was practically dragging her out, but Nina wasn’t scared.

This was school, not a place where Chase could do whatever he wanted.

If she yelled for a teacher, he couldn’t touch her.

Just as Nina planned to humiliate Chase a second time, a strong arm suddenly appeared in front of her and grabbed Chase’s wrist.

“Let go.”

The voice was familiar–the same one she’d heard when she’d first woken up after rebirth.

Nina looked up. It was Jensen.

“You? A worthless bastard like you wants to stand up for Nina?”

Chase tried to yank his hand free, but Jensen stood completely still, holding him in place with almost no effort.

Realizing he couldn’t even break free, Chase was furious. He glanced at Katrina, who was watching tearfully from her seat.

He couldn’t stand looking weak in front of the girl he liked. Without warning, Chase kicked Jensen hard in the stomach.

Jensen wasn’t expecting it and stumbled backward, hitting a desk.

Nina immediately stepped in front of him. “Chase! How could you hit him?!”

“So what if I did? He should know his place before getting in my way!”

Chase smirked, thinking he looked tough and cool, but he only seemed pathetic.

Furious, Nina shouted toward the door, “Teacher! Chase just attacked someone!”

“Nina! Shut up!”

Chase’s face paled, but it was too late. Dora Reed, the homeroom teacher, rushed in and saw Jensen clutching his stomach, pale with pain, while Chase was still pointing at Nina’s face in fury.

Dora snapped, “Chase! How much trouble do you plan to cause in one day? Tell your mother to come to school this afternoon!”

She had clearly already gotten chewed out by the dean, so now all that anger came crashing down on Chase, the one who started it.

At the mention of bringing his mother, Chase’s arrogance vanished completely.

Soon, Chase was taken away. Nina turned to the pale Jensen. “I’ll take you to the infirmary.”

Without waiting for his reply, Nina slung his arm over her shoulder. Jensen froze, staring at her profile in surprise.

Very quickly, the sight of Nina helping Jensen caused a wave of teasing among the students.

At Nina’s size, she could probably carry the thin Jensen easily.
