After being hungry for so long, Laurel ate the roast meat with shining eyes, thinking to herself that the shaman healer’s mates were truly skilled. Their roasting technique beat Sebastian’s by
miles.
Once everyone had eaten their fill, the mates took over caring for the cubs, and Laurel and Sebastian prepared to leave.
The shaman healer held Laurel’s hand and walked her all the way to the cave entrance. “Good child, you worked so hard today. You just arrived in the tribe and already helped so much. I don’t even know how to thank you.”
Laurel smiled sweetly. “I learned a lot from you today. Your medical skills are amazing. I should be the one thanking you.”
She then turned to Sebastian. “The cubs are safe, and neither of us feels tired. We’ll help again tomorrow. Good night, shaman healer.”
Sebastian lowered his gaze to the little female, admiration and fondness clear in his eyes. “Yeah. We’ll come again tomorrow.”
Watching the two of them leave, the shaman healer’s face was full of affection.
“What good children. Sebastian is truly blessed to have brought back such a gentle, well- mannered little female.
“I used to worry he’d end up alone. Looks like I was overthinking.
“That little female even dared to come to a cave with an outbreak and was willing to care for
sick cubs.
“So brave, and so kind.”
“Perhaps…” Her eyes flickered. “The legacy may yet continue.”
The shaman healer’s true name was Ayla White. Her medical arts were part of an ancient Fenfrost secret, passed down through generations and taught only to Fenfrost females.
She was now over 90 beast cycles old. Of the dozens of mates she had once had, fewer than five remained alive.
She had thought the ancient Fenfrost great shaman’s arts would end with her. She never expected to encounter a female with such potential today.

“Although she isn’t Fenfrost yet, if I observe a bit longer, and once she and Sebastian form bonds, perhaps…”
Ayla’s gaze softened with pity as she looked in the direction the little female had
gone.
Moonlight lit the stone-paved path as Laurel and Sebastian walked side by side on their way home.
Several cubs were chasing each other through the tribe, singing an ancient nursery rhyme in their soft, babbling voices. “Holy spirit shaman, living souls dance. Starlight turns to mist. Strange flowers bloom, all sickness fades. Heal our beast land.”
The melody was airy and distant, as if crossing ten thousand years of time. It sounded like a gentle whisper, and like a summons, leaving Laurel momentarily dazed.
She couldn’t help asking, “What song is that? It’s beautiful.”
Sebastian raised a brow and replied quietly, “It’s a lullaby that’s been sung since ancient times. Beastmen learn it from childhood. It’s said to be a prophecy left by the Beast God.”
He found it strange. Even if she’d lost her memories, how could Laurel have never heard a lullaby every beastman knew?
“Oh? What kind of prophecy?” Laurel tilted her small face up, clearly intrigued.
Sebastian shook his head lightly. “I’m not sure either. Maybe only the elders in the temple know.”
Back in the cave, Laurel finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. She pulled Sebastian to the corner and quietly told him about the black mist she’d seen earlier.
The more he listened, the darker Sebastian’s expression became. After a long silence, he suddenly gripped the little female’s shoulders, his tone serious. “Laurel, even in a beast world where abilities exist, being able to see what you described isn’t a good thing.
“More importantly, you said the black mist avoided you, as if it was afraid of you.
“I think you might possess some kind of special healing power.
“A female’s natural ability is mental soothing. Awakening a second ability is rarer than any
treasure.
“If other beastmen find out you have this power, it could spark conflict across the beast world.
“Throughout history, only two females have ever had healing abilities.

“One was the great high shaman of the ancient Beast God Temple, the only female high shaman in the beast world.
“The other was the ancient Fenfrost great shaman.”
He paused, brows deeply furrowed, his thumb rubbing restlessly against the little female’s shoulder.
