Chapter 207 Marcus the Proud Father
“Fifty-one!” Zane glanced at the little wild boar lying behind him. Looks like he would need to hand a few more. Bigger boars had tougher meat, and it wasn’t good for the younglings
Even though the babies were still tiny, beastfolk were born with strong stomachs. As long as food could get into their bellies, they could handle it.

flet-gold fox cub had climbed onto Zane’s shoulder and was playing with his silver hair.

Looks like the two of them were pretty close.
Marcus was mixing baby formula nearby. The younglings smelled it right away and crowded around him. Their little eyes stayed fixed on every move he made.
When Zane noticed Marcus moving a bit slowly, he walked over.
“Want me to do it? Claire gave you that formula, right?”
Back during the first litter, Claire had already taught him how to mix it. The younglings loved the stuff.
Marcus shook his head.
“It’s fine. I can do it.” His movements were slow, but he had never made a mistake.
“Just because I’m blind doesn’t mean you should treat me differently. Treat me the same way you treat Rufus.”
He didn’t want special treatment. He wanted to fit into the family and keep his blindness from affecting his life too much.
Zane thought about how roughly he usually handled Rufus and raised a brow

and roasted them over the fire. The younglings bounced around excitedly, drool hanging from their mouths as they sniffed the smell of roasting meat.
Zane glanced over. Marcus had just finished feeding the last youngling with formula and looked completely exhausted.
Zane grinned and teased him.
“Now you know how tiring it is to have so many kids.”
Marcus instantly forced himself upright and puffed out his chest proudly. His chest muscles were only alf the size of Zane’s, but he still looked smug.
“Can’t help it. I’m just that good at making babies.”
Zane lifted a brow. He wasn’t angry. The comment just sounded childish.
“That’s because Claire has incredible fertility. That’s why she gave birth to so many at once.
Marcus should count himself lucky.
Rufus had lost his younglings. Zane’s children were far away with the eagle clan. Only Marcus had his babies right here, spoiled and doted on every day.
Thinking about it made Zane missed his own younglings.
At the same time, guilt crept into his heart. To rescue Claire after Jeffrey took her away, he had left his babies with the eagle clan. He visited sometimes, but most of the time, he hadn’t done much as a father.
Still, even if he could go back and choose again, he would make the same decision.
Claire mattered most.
Marcus shifted into his beast form and lay down farther from the fire. Younglings immediately climbed all over him, using his body like a playground slide.
Marcus let them play however they wanted. His round ears twitched lazily, and he didn’t feel like moving at all.
“Zane, how many younglings do you have?”
Claire had already told him before. He was only bringing it up now because he wanted to see Zane lose to him for once.
Zane instantly caught the bragging in his tone. His left hand kept turning the roasted meat over the fire while his right hand pushed away a youngling that wandered too close to the flames.
“Yeah, yeah. You’ve got a lot of beastlings. Brag to me if you want. Just don’t brag in front of Rufus. He’ll lose his temper. If you two start fighting, Claire’s going to get upset.”
Marcus snorted. On the surface, he agreed, but deep down he was completely unconvinced.
Rufus was only Level 2. If Rufus wanted a fight, Marcus was ready.

Zane’s face turned serious at the sight. Even the nearby younglings quietly backed away when they saw the look on his face.
“As first mate, I’m warning you. Don’t let Claire have any more younglings for you.”
Marcus bared his teeth unhappily. But Zane refused to back down, he huffed and turned his head away
“Most beast mates don’t have as many children in their whole lives as you had in one litter. Too many births are hard on Claire’s body. And Claire may have new beast mates in the future. There’s no guarantee in even be your turn again. As first mate, it’s my job to keep things balanced.”
Zane held a thin wooden stick between his long fingers. The dark wood made his pale skin look even lighter as he poked at the fire, making the flames burn brighter.
