Corvin handed a small pouch of herbs to Kieran.
“Boil these in water and have the male beastfolk drink it.”

Kieran was still in shock. Aurora pinched his arm, snapping him back to reality. He quickly handed the herbs to one of the beastfolk behind him to prepare.
Claire nodded to herself.
“So that’s it. No wonder Fiona had it so easy in such a large tribe. With Soulrot and Rosefire, she could manipulate almost anyone.”
Marcus murmured, “Claire, where did she get so many poisons?”
“Who knows? Back in the Fox Clan, I’d only heard of Soulrot. I never even knew Rosefire existed.”
Fiona had completely snapped. With nothing left to lose, she screamed, “What would you know? You’re an ugly female abandoned by the Mother Goddess!”
She glared at Claire with bloodshot eyes. “Foxes are naturally charming, and Rosefire is the secret behind it! Look at you. You’re from the Fox Clan, yet you don’t even recognize the most basic love potion!”
Claire simply shook her head.
Those words meant nothing to her.
She hadn’t been born into the Fox Clan. She had come from another world. Of course, she didn’t know their customs or their poisons.
Besides, she had no need for Rosefire.
Zane smiled softly. He reached up and gently brushed his fingers across Claire’s cheek.
“Claire doesn’t need poison,” he said, his voice warm and gentle. “You are the most irresistible poison of all, and I gladly surrender to you.”
Fiona was already in agony, but watching Zane shower Claire with affection hurt even more.
“Why?” she screamed. “Why does everyone revolve around you, Claire? I worked so hard to become who I am today! I’m not losing! I refuse to lose!”
She suddenly turned toward the male beastfolk nearby. Her alluring eyes swept over them.

“Kill that bitch! Kill Claire!”
For a brief moment, every male beastfolk’s eyes flashed red. Then they began closing in on Claire.
Zane instantly shifted into his enormous white wolf form and stood between them and Claire.
Kieran shouted in panic.
“Have you all lost your minds? Why are you listening to that lunatic? I’m your chief!”
Fiona sneered coldly, “So what? If I’d found a chance to use Rosefire on you, this entire clan would already belong to me.”
She laughed. “But even now, more than half the clan obeys me. If you know what’s good for you, don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
The beastfolk ignored Kieran completely. Aurora quickly pulled her mate back to safety.
Zane swung one massive paw. The front row of beastfolk dropped to the ground in an instant.
Marcus could barely contain the killing intent burning inside him. He stomped the ground over and over like an angry puppy struggling against an invisible leash.
“Claire! Claire! Can I go now? I want to kill Fiona! She’s the worst! I can’t hold back anymore!”
By then, Fiona had already gotten to her feet and started running. She knew that Rosefire’s effects didn’t last very long.
She had to escape while these controlled beastfolk kept Zane and the others busy.
She absolutely could not end up as a living test subject.
Claire watched Fiona flee, then nodded to Marcus.
“Go. Don’t kill her. Dr. Black still wants her as a test subject.”
“Got it, Claire!”
A blur shot past Claire’s side.
By the time anyone looked again, Marcus had already tackled Fiona to the ground.
His massive bear paw came crashing across her face. The slap was so powerful that one side of her face swelled almost instantly.

Then Fiona took another slap across her other cheek.
One slap after another rained down on her. She didn’t even have time to scream.
All that came out were muffled whimpers.
Claire watched without a trace of emotion.

This was the woman who had poisoned her children.
If Corvin hadn’t stepped in, Claire would have waited until Fiona was thrown out of the clan, then finished her off herself.
More and more male beastfolk surrounded Zane. When his left paw grew tired, he switched to his right. Even so, the ground was already covered with fallen beastfolk.
But they kept coming, as if trapped in a trance. Claire couldn’t help worrying.
Zane’s paws were going to get scraped raw.
Just thinking about it made her heart ache.
Kieran and Aurora watched with heavy hearts. These were beastfolk they had watched grow up. They had lost their minds, but they could still be saved.
“The antidote! The antidote’s here!”
At last, the beastfolk who had been brewing the herbs arrived. Two beastfolk carried a large wooden barrel of the herbal drink between them, while another used a long wooden ladle to force the steaming liquid into the mouths of the entranced males.
The hot brew burned their throats, making them yelp in pain.
A short while later, the first beastfolk came back to his senses.
“W-Where am I? Huh? Wasn’t I helping Fiona carry things back to her treehouse? How did I end up here?”
“Me too! Fiona said her treehouse needed repairs and asked me to fix it. I was working, and then I guess I fell asleep.”
“Same here. Me too.”
One after another, every male beastfolk who had been poisoned by Rosefire regained his
senses.
Looking at the overwhelming number of victims, Kieran was filled with guilt.
