Chapter 324 Beast Swarm
“Beast swarm? What’s a beast swarm?”
Claire paused for a moment, then seemed to thought of something and relaxed.

“It makes sense that you don’t know. You’ve been living in Grimstone. For a clan, a beast swarm is a disaster that can destroy everything in an instant. But for a well-fortified city, it’s not much of a threat.”
A beast swarm was simply a group of savage beasts that had gone mad. They were not blind. They could see the tall, unbreakable walls of Grimstone and would not rush to their own deaths.
Even if a city lay directly in their path, they would avoid it and pass by from the side.
With Zane’s explanation, Marcus finally understood how terrifying a beast swarm could be.
But instead of feeling afraid, he grabbed Claire’s hand and said with complete confidence, “Claire, don’t be scared. If the beast swarm comes, I’ll protect you!”
Claire looked at him, bold and a little too fearless for his own good, and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Wow, look at you, all confident. Careful, or you’ll get squashed by the beast swarm.”
She reached out and pinched his cheek. It was soft and bouncy, oddly satisfying to the touch.
Marcus smiled, a confident and slightly dazed look on his face. He leaned against her neck and breathed in her familiar scent.
“Claire, you smell more and more like milk lately…”
Claire gave a helpless smile. Of course she did. She was about to give birth, and her body had already begun producing milk.
Davy came back with the younglings after running wild outside.
Zane pulled Davy away, while Claire called the younglings over.
“Kids, something important’s coming up. Be good and listen to me, okay?”
“Okay!”
Their soft, childish voices answered one after another. They were not perfectly in sync, but every single one responded. Even the panda and fox younglings that couldn’t speak yet nodded

and made small sounds.
Claire gathered them all into her storage space.

It had been a long time since the younglings entered the storage space. The moment they saw the familiar surroundings, they burst with excitement and started running and darting all over the old-style townhouse.
Claire took a quick glance at the farmland. The rich soil was filled with ripe crops. The wheat and rice fields shimmered gold, their heavy heads bending low.
Corn and soybeans were planted together, both growing full and healthy, with a good yield.
White cotton bloomed in large, fluffy clusters. There was not much, but it was enough to make a few quilts.
Cabbage, leafy greens, carrots, spinach, peppers, and lettuce all grew lush and vibrant.
These crops had already been harvested several times and stored in the preservation space. Claire would take out a portion each day and place it in the kitchen, making sure everything they ate was fresh.
She had also harvested many medicinal herbs. There were dozens of century-old mandrakes, along with everroot, mosscap, sunroot, and bloodroot. After processing, they were stored in the preservation space. Some fungi were still growing in the field, nearly reaching a thousand years in age.
On the other side of the farm, in the livestock shed, chickens, ducks, and geese gathered in flocks. The cattle, sheep, and pigs were well-fed and strong. Having fed on the aquatic plants grown in the storage space, these animals had begun to show a spark of awareness.
When they saw the younglings coming, the chicks, ducklings, and other small animals all scattered to hide, afraid of being tormented by the playful little ones.
Claire told Crimson, the most sensible, and the oldest Zane One to look after the others, then pulled out of the storage space.
“Pome, keep an eye on the younglings in the storage space. Let me know immediately if anything happens.”
“Got it, Master.”
Claire looked up at her three beast mates. They also seemed tense, standing around her on guard.
A sudden sound came from the distance, and all three of them turned their heads at once.

Eva and Tyne were running toward Claire.
“Eva, Tyne, have you heard about the beast swarm too?”
Claire took their hands, her brows slightly furrowed, worry on her face.
Tyne nodded, clearly frightened.
