Chapter 350 Nine Mates in One Night
Claire sat there with her big pregnant belly, and the torchlight made her face all the more radiant. Her lips were slick with a sheen of oil, red and full enough to make a man want a taste.
Sensing Zane’s gaze, Claire looked over and gave him a bright smile that made every beastfolk around her seem to dim by comparison.
Zane wiped the corner of her mouth with a scrap of hide, doting as ever, and said softly, “Claire really can make anything.”
Marcus jumped in right behind him, laying the flattery on thick.
“Claire can do absolutely anything! No matter what she gets her hands on, she turns trash into treasure. Claire, you’re my hero! Are you sure you aren’t the Beast God walking among us?”
Davy stared at Marcus, amazed that anyone could have such a way with words, but when he saw Claire’s eyes crinkling with delight, he chimed in too.
“Yeah, I think so too!”
All the praise turned Claire’s cheeks bright red. These dishes were nothing more than the everyday home cooking she used to make back in the modern world, and she’d never imagined that bringing them to the Beast World would win over so many people.
“Oh, stop it. You’re all just as amazing.
She wasn’t just being polite either. She truly envied the raw, overwhelming combat power of her four beast mates, who could bring down savage beasts that size in a single move.
If only she could do that too…
Oh well. She’d just tuck herself safely into her beast mates’ arms and keep her head down.
At most, she’d pull out a gun when it really counted.
The bonfire party was at its peak when Kieran stood up and announced, “Up next, we have quite a few beastfolk who are bonding tonight, so let’s all celebrate them together!”
The words had barely left his mouth before dozens of beastfolk filed up to stand beside him.
The group held both males and females, but the males far outnumbered the females, which made it clear at a glance just how rare they were.
To Claire’s surprise, Eva and Tyne were both up there.
Tyne had to be bonding with Gale. That much was a given.
But Eva? Claire wasn’t sure. She’d never seen her get close to any male beastfolk.
She took a closer look and recognized the male standing next to Eva. It was Quentin.
He was holding Eva’s hand and grinning from ear to ear, refusing to let go.

Claire knew Eva didn’t have a single beast mate yet, and Quentin was a Level 2 beastfolk, which made him a perfectly good match as her first mate.
After all, Eva was a Level 2 female herself.
Seeing how happy Eva looked, Claire relaxed.
Kieran went on.
“Everyone who’s bonding, gather with your female or your males so the rest of us can congratulate you!
The beastfolk up front started moving around and quickly sorted themselves into several clusters.
Each cluster had a female at its center, paired with one or more male beastfolk.
“You can bond with several beast mates all at once?”
Claire let out a soft gasp and covered her mouth.
The biggest cluster up front had five males in it, and the female at its center was actually bonding with all five at the same time! What a powerhouse!
Claire couldn’t imagine how that female make it through the night.
Claire was caught somewhere between sympathy and curiosity when Corvin’s low voice drifted over from behind her.
“Five is on the low end. The most I ever saw was one female bonding with nine beast mates at once.”
“Nine? Who was bold enough for that?”
Claire was so stunned she forgot to wonder how Corvin had turned up behind her out of nowhere.
She’d assumed he was off looking after the younglings.
She’d even planned to have someone bring him a plate of the finished dishes, and yet here he was.
Corvin’s gaze burned into her as he said slowly, “That female was named Wanda.”
Claire was left speechless. Oh my God, did the woman who’d crossed over before her really play the field that hard?
Nine mates in a single night!
She didn’t even want to picture it.
Claire’s mind was still a complete blank when Corvin went on.
“I was very young at the time, but I saw it with my own eyes. I’m not making it up.”
Corvin’s face was unreadable in the shadows. He suddenly leaned down close to her ear and murmured, his voice pure temptation, “You have so few beast mates. You could always add a few more all at once. Take me, for instance…”

Corvin’s warm breath spilled into her ear, and a shiver raced up Claire’s spine as every hair on her body stood on end. The tickle of it made her want to get away, so she leaned hard in the opposite direction.
Corvin’s reflexes were lightning quick, and his hand shot out to steady her as he said, “Careful!”

A pale, powerful arm reached in from the side and pulled Claire into a firm embrace.
The clean scent of soap settled her nerves right back down.
Zane looked at Corvin, who had already straightened up, and his smile was warm and easy, though Convin read nothing in it but an ice-cold warning.
He said, “Please keep a proper distance from Claire. You aren’t her beast mate yet.”
Corvin gave a careless laugh.
“Understood.”
He turned and walked away, and the instant he cleared the crowd, he glanced back at Claire standing there in the flickering firelight. She was looking back at him too, with something in her eyes he couldn’t put a
name to.
Corvin’s lips moved, forming the words without a sound.
“Sooner or later, I will be.”
Then he faced forward again and left the noise and light behind.
Claire watched Corvin walk off alone into the dark, and for some reason she couldn’t explain, she started to feel sorry for him.
“Zane, did I overreact just now? Do you think I hurt Dr. Black’s feelings?”

the one time he finally did, Claire had gone and driven him off.
Maybe she should cut Corvin a little more slack.
Zane stroked Claire’s long hair, his voice soothing and touched with a smile.
“Don’t worry about it. He’s not as fragile as you think.”
