The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 276

What was this?

Did she actually mean less to him than a dog now?

"Preston..."

Her emotions churning, Jenna forced herself to follow him.

Preston didn't look back. "I have things to take care of. Go on ahead."

"..." Jenna clenched her fists and replied quietly, "Okay."

Her heart pounded erratically, entirely unsettled.

But soon, Preston returned with a doctor.

Jenna's eyes lit up. "Preston?"

She was pleasantly surprised. "Did you leave just to get me a doctor?"

Preston sat down on the sofa next to her. "Yeah. Let them check you out, just to be safe."

Jenna immediately clung to his arm, her voice sickly sweet. "Preston, you're so good to me..."

"Honestly, I wouldn't usually care about a minor injury like this. I'd just tough it out."

Preston pulled his arm away. "The past is the past. You don't have to tough it out anymore."

He was elegant and handsome. Even in simple clothes, his presence was undeniably striking.

Jenna couldn't tear her eyes away. The panic and unease from earlier completely vanished.

See? How could Preston not care about her?

In the middle of the examination, Percival came downstairs from his nap.

"Jenna, you're here."

Seeing her, the old man beamed, but his face darkened the moment he noticed the bandage on her leg. "What happened here?"

Jenna glanced at Preston, then bit her lip. "It's nothing, Grandpa. I just took a little tumble on the way here."

Percival frowned. "Is that so? You've been getting hurt a lot lately. Just stay at Cloudrest Manor for a while and stop running around outside."

Jenna smiled. "I couldn't do that. Dr. Sharpe still needs me."

Eleonora grew annoyed just looking at him and pushed him away. "Get away. It has nothing to do with you."

Preston sighed helplessly.

Eleonora glared at him. "And give Chloe her dog back! You're a grown man, acting so childish!"

Preston raised an eyebrow, handing her a bowl of soup with a smile. "Grandma, that doesn't make any sense."

"Yuri belongs to Chloe, Chloe belongs to me, so naturally, Yuri belongs to me too."

Eleonora said nothing, her expression unreadable but clearly displeased.

Preston continued, "Besides, it's not that I won't give the dog back. I'm using this as a chance to let her see clearly who is really by her side."

"Alright, Grandma, have some soup. You don't need to worry about Chloe and me."

Sitting beside Preston, Jenna appeared to be quietly eating, but she was listening intently, catching every word of their conversation.

Eleonora let out a long sigh and suddenly spoke.

"Preston, you should marry Miss Cameron."
