The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 292

"Oh... I didn't expect Mr. Shaw to care so much about me," Bob muttered, glancing back at her a few more times as he got into the driver's seat.

She looked so much like her.

The resemblance was uncanny.

But on second thought, it seemed impossible.

Everyone at the Institute knew that Caroline Monet and Quentin weren't just top-tier partners on the surface; in private, they had always been fierce rivals.

If Caroline really had come back, why on earth would she be Quentin's assistant?

Bob shook his head and focused on the road.

"Mr. Shaw, I'll drop you home to rest first."

Quentin rested with his eyes closed. "Mm."

Chloe spoke up, "Bob, you can just let me out at the intersection ahead. My hotel is in a different direction; I can make my own way there."

Before Bob could respond, Quentin opened his eyes. "Why are you staying at a hotel?"

Chloe stayed silent.

She was too embarrassed to explain that when she thought her hearing was permanently gone, the suffocating wave of despair made her want to sever all ties with her past.

She treated reality like a dream she had already woken up from, listed the house for sale, and walked away without looking back.

She had regretted it later.

But the agent told her the house was bought the very first day it went on the market.

Thinking of this, Chloe couldn't help but feel a little down.

A second later, a key suddenly dangled in front of her eyes.

"I had the house cleaned in advance. It's ready whenever you are."

Chloe quickly waved her hands. "I'll find my own place in a couple of days, I shouldn't bother you anymore..."

Quentin looked at her. "It's not my house."

Chloe froze.

"Of course!" Chloe looked down at the key, her fingertips tracing the familiar grooves, reluctant to let go.

Bob couldn't understand a word of their conversation, but the shifting atmosphere in the back seat made him smile too.

That was until the car pulled up outside Caroline's house, and he watched Chloe use the key to open the door, walking in as if she owned the place. His smile froze on his face.

Was he seeing things???

That woman actually went into Caroline's house?

In other words, Quentin gave Caroline's house to this new assistant?

Bob sat stunned in the driver's seat, frozen for a long moment.

He obviously knew about this house.

For years, people had aggressively bid to buy or rent the famous "Caroline Monet residence," but Quentin had never relented, forbidding anyone from even setting foot inside.

But now, he let a strange woman move in?

Who on earth was this Chloe Reed?
