Secretary General?
The man who was almost thrown out by security was the Secretary General?
The lobby instantly fell so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Andrea's face turned from pale to green, and then to purple.
Monica didn't even glance at her, her tone calm but carrying weight. "Secretary General, for such an important event, we should have gone through official channels."
The man spoke coldly. "This interpreter named Andrea contacted me on her own, claiming to be Caroline Monet's student and hoping for an opportunity to collaborate with us."
"I just didn't expect that she not only lied, but her skills are incredibly mediocre."
Monica gave a slight nod. "Please don't be angry. This is indeed a management failure on our part. I apologize on behalf of the Sterling Interpretation Institute."
"To express our sincerity, I can have Quentin Shaw attend this event."
"Quentin Shaw?" The man's eyes lit up, his anger dissipating by more than half.
For an unofficial, small-scale event like this, it was usually impossible to book him.
"If he's willing to attend, that would be fantastic. However, I need to finalize this by this afternoon."
Someone nearby immediately chimed in. "Mr. Shaw's assistant is right here."
Swoosh—
Everyone's eyes turned in unison to land on Chloe.
Chloe's expression remained calm. "Mr. Shaw is out right now. I'll contact him immediately."
She dialed Quentin's number right away.
A few seconds later, she lowered her phone. "He won't be back until tomorrow."
The man's brow furrowed again. "Director, do you have any other candidates?"
Monica took the materials he handed over, scanned them, and her brow also creased slightly.
The people next to her leaned in for a look, and their faces all changed.
First of all, dealing with a figure of presidential status allowed for zero mistakes.
Secondly, the obscure fields covered in these materials were absurdly deep. It was all cutting-edge, highly technical exposition, densely packed with professional jargon, making the difficulty level dizzying.
It wouldn't have been impossible if they had more time to tackle it.
But Andrea had already dragged it out for too long.
Monica's brow knit tightly.
Andrea's face flushed a deep, embarrassed red. Tears welled in her eyes, and her lips trembled so much she couldn't form a single word.
Right at that moment, a figure walked out unhurriedly and plucked the document right out of her hands.
Andrea froze for a second. When she realized who it was, the anger flared up inside her.
She hurled all her fear, shame, and fury straight at Chloe.
"What are you doing?! Do you even have the right to speak here? Do you have to make this all about you right now?!"
Chloe didn't look at her.
She didn't even pause.
Lowering her eyes, she unhurriedly scanned the document from beginning to end.
Ten seconds.
Exactly ten seconds.
Then, she lifted her head and spoke.
