The Wife He Dumped, The Queen She Returned As novel Chapter 381

"What are you all talking about?"

Isabella Sylvain asked as she walked into the room.

The moment Sonya saw her, a tender smile lit up her face.

"You're back, Bella."

Isabella first gave a polite nod to Dr. Sharpe.

Her expression was perfectly natural, her demeanor elegant. There was no trace of the humiliation she’d suffered a few days ago when she was scolded to tears.

She then walked over and sat beside Sonya, her voice dripping with affection.

"Mom."

Sonya looked at her, her eyes brimming with love and adoration.

Beside them, Lucian was equally attentive to his sister.

Dr. Sharpe watched the scene quietly and looked away.

Deep down, she hoped Sonya could find peace and move on.

Yet, even after all these years, Dr. Sharpe couldn't help but remember the way little Elara used to tilt her head and call out to her in that sweet, childish voice.

She was firmly against marriage and lived a solitary life. She had never been fond of children.

But Elara had been the sole exception.

She truly was the most wonderful little girl.

"Liana, what are you spacing out for?"

Sonya gently tapped her arm.

Dr. Sharpe snapped out of her reverie. "What?"

"I was just telling you about my Bella. What were you thinking about so deeply? I called you a few times and you didn't even hear me..."

Isabella’s expression stiffened for a fraction of a second, but she quickly maintained her polite, graceful smile.

"Oh, it's nothing," Dr. Sharpe replied smoothly.

She didn't want Sonya to catch on and get upset.

Years ago, the Sylvain family had mobilized their global network to search for Elara.

They never found her, but in a remote mountain village, they ended up rescuing a trafficked young girl—Isabella.

For the first few years after Isabella arrived, Sonya hadn't even spared her a glance.

But gradually, as they spent time together, a bond formed, and Sonya began treating her like a biological daughter.

Perhaps it was for the best.

After all this time, finding an emotional anchor in Isabella was a form of self-preservation for Sonya.

It was better than drowning in a sea of grief forever.
