The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 123

Wynne's face lit up when she saw Winona, and she beckoned her over. Winona smiled and walked toward her.

Wynne had long been an important family friend and supporter of the Lockes. The story went that years ago, while pregnant with twins, she discovered her husband was cheating. She decisively divorced him and returned to her family home in Riverton. During an accident at a shopping mall, Willow found her and rushed her to the hospital, and the two became close friends.

Later, Wynne remarried into the Powell family, one of the three most powerful families in the capital. She never forgot Willow's kindness and continued to support the Locke family, visiting whenever she had the time.

Back then, Tallulah wasn't in the picture, and Yulen had hosted Wynne alongside Winona. The dignified woman was known for her refined and aloof nature, rarely taking a liking to anyone from the younger generation, but she had taken to Winona right away.

Knowing that Wynne herself had been deeply hurt by infidelity, Willow was afraid to tell her about Yulen’s cheating and the fact that Tallulah was in the picture. And that was how Winona had been allowed to attend the birthday party.

Camille had sent Winona a text beforehand, warning her not to say anything out of line.

She had agreed. For Helena and Nikita's sake, she would play her part for the next three months.

After mingling with a family friend, Yulen went to find Winona. When he couldn't see her, he asked his mother, "Mom, where's Winona?"

Noticing her son's recent focus on Winona, Willow said sourly, "She's in the lounge with Wynne. Honestly, I don't understand how someone with standards as high as Wynne's could take a liking to Winona."

"Mom, don't always put Winona down like that," Yulen said, clearly displeased.

Just then, Camille approached with a beautiful and elegant young woman.

The newcomer was Wynne’s adopted daughter, Ophelia Powell, a well-known socialite in the capital’s upper circles. Wynne's twin children had gone missing in a tragic accident, and the resulting grief had damaged her health, leaving her unable to have more children. After marrying Mr. Powell, the couple adopted a young boy and girl from an orphanage.

That girl was Ophelia. This was her first time in Riverton.

Winona opened it to find a magnificent jeweled bracelet. "This is far too valuable. I can't accept it."

She tried to return the bracelet, but Wynne clasped her hand. "It's not valuable at all, just a small token. I'd be happy if you would simply wear it."

Seeing her insistence, Winona had no choice but to accept. She wanted to give a gift in return but felt she had nothing of equal value. Then an idea struck her. Finding some paper and a pen in the lounge, she wrote down a formula.

"Mrs. Powell, I remember you mentioning you suffer from insomnia. This is a blend I came up with for herbal coffee packs that can help with sleep. If you drink it daily, it should help alleviate your symptoms."

Wynne knew that Winona came from a renowned family of herbalists and that something like this was usually kept private. The fact that Winona would share it so freely touched her deeply.

"Thank you," she said sincerely.
