The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 124

Just then, Willow entered with two other ladies to say hello. Not wanting to interrupt, Winona excused herself from the lounge.

Instead of looking for Yulen, she went out to the garden. With all the household staff busy helping in the banquet hall, the garden was quiet. She sat on a stone bench and gave Nikita a call.

Nikita sounded energetic and assured Winona that everything was fine, telling her to enjoy her mother-in-law's birthday celebration. After a brief chat, Winona hung up, not wanting to keep the old woman from her rest.

As she was about to head to the kitchen for a glass of water, a man suddenly grabbed her by the wrist.

She frowned, looking at him with annoyance.

He was young, dressed in an expensive white suit, with a lecherous grin plastered on his face.

"Which family's heiress are you? Do you have a boyfriend?"

Her frown deepened. "Let go of me. I'm Yulen's wife."

The man's face fell with disappointment as he released her. "Oh, Yulen's wife. What a shame."

He continued his roguish patter, "I'm Lachlan Powell. You've probably heard of me, right?"

Winona finally understood. This was Wynne's adopted son. "Mr. Powell," she acknowledged coolly.

Lachlan, however, couldn't take his eyes off her. Her skin looked flawless, and her figure was impossible not to notice. He felt an itch he couldn't scratch and moved closer, his flirtatious eyes full of seduction. "If you're ever interested in a little fun outside your marriage, I'm your man. My lips are sealed."

Winona found him utterly shameless. She couldn't comprehend how a refined and elegant person like Wynne could adopt such a man as her son.

When she tried to leave, Lachlan blocked her way. "How about we at least exchange numbers?"

Meanwhile, Yulen spotted Winona and was about to walk over to her when someone grabbed his arm. He turned to see Tallulah and his eyes widened. "Tallulah, what are you doing here?"

"Yulen, it's not like I'm going to cause a scene," Tallulah complained. "Why can Winona be here and I can't?"

Yulen frowned, trying to placate her patiently. "Be good. Go home for now. Mrs. Powell is here today, so it's best you aren't seen."

Tallulah's face flushed with anger. She was supposed to be his wife, yet she was the one who had to be hidden away.

"Tallulah!" Yulen's expression hardened when she didn't listen.

Seeing his look, Tallulah could only relent. "Alright, alright, I'm leaving."

Winona, holding a glass of juice, was looking for a place to sit when someone shoved her hard from behind, causing her to stumble forward.
