It was Stefan.

Victor and Jericho happened to be walking over just then. Spotting Stefan, Victor smiled. "Mr. Goddard, you're eating here too? Why don't you join us?"

Stefan’s gaze flickered almost imperceptibly toward Winona before he nodded.

Winona's heart skipped a beat. For some reason, that strange, flustered feeling was back. She simply nodded at Stefan as a greeting and followed the others inside.

Just as they reached the elevators, they ran into Yulen and Tallulah, who had finished their meal and were heading downstairs to buy dessert. Winona was no longer surprised to see the two of them together at social functions.

Yulen smiled gently at her and then proactively greeted Stefan, Jericho, and Victor. The men began to exchange pleasantries. Tallulah tried to join the conversation, but Stefan didn't even look at her, while Jericho and Victor were so cold they didn't acknowledge her at all.

Tallulah was instantly annoyed. She was the R&D director at Locke Group, after all. Out of respect for Yulen, they should have at least been civil, but instead, they were all blatantly snubbing her. The thought that Winona got to have dinner with them made her fume, convinced Winona must be using some kind of seductive tricks.

Yulen knew Winona was likely meeting with Victor and the others for the Locke Group project, so he didn't say much, only reminding her to head home soon after dinner. Winona just hummed in agreement.

The elevator arrived, and she stepped inside with the group. Jericho and Victor stood together, deep in conversation, which left Winona standing next to Stefan. She didn't know why, but being so close to him made her heart race again.

When they finally reached the fifth floor, she let out a quiet sigh of relief and followed them out. In the private room, Jericho and Victor discussed many professional topics, and Winona chimed in with answers. Victor could see the pride and admiration Jericho had for Winona, which only reinforced his belief that Locke Group had made a huge mistake letting a talent like her go.

After dinner, with their business talk mostly concluded, Winona left the private room with them. Victor and Jericho's cars were in the garage, so they headed off together. Stefan's car was parked out front, so he and Winona walked out of the restaurant together.

A light rain had begun to fall. Suddenly, Winona noticed two familiar figures by the entrance. It was Yulen and Tallulah, who were only just leaving.
