The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 198

Stefan’s face hardened when he saw Yulen’s arm around Winona.

Sensing an opportunity to assert his dominance, Yulen said loudly, "Mr. Goddard, my wife ran away from home after a little spat. Thank you for being such a good neighbor and looking after her. I appreciate it on her behalf."

"I didn't do anything to look after her," Stefan replied coldly. "You're too kind, Mr. Locke."

He glanced at the silent Winona, a flicker of derision in his eyes, before turning and going back inside.

Winona suddenly remembered that Biscuit was still in her apartment. If she left just like that, who would take care of him? "I need to grab something," she told Yulen. "You go on downstairs first."

"Alright," Yulen said, feeling pleased. "Take your time. I'll wait for you in the car."

Once Yulen was gone, she went back inside, gathered Biscuit’s food and toys, and carried the dog to Stefan's door. She rang the bell, and Stefan opened it, his gaze icy, as if he were looking at a stranger.

"Ms. Jowett. Can I help you?"

The cold, unapproachable aura around him reminded her of when they had first met.

Winona instinctively looked down, holding Biscuit out to him. "I'm moving out, and it's not convenient for me to look after Biscuit anymore, so I have to return him to you."

Stefan let out a cold snort as he took the dog and the bag of supplies. "Got it."

Biscuit seemed to realize he was being separated from Winona. He struggled in Stefan's arms, whimpering softly.

Winona looked at him, her heart aching. If she could, she would have loved to spend more time with him, but Biscuit was Roxana's pet. She had no right to take him.

"Is there anything else, Ms. Jowett?" Stefan's voice remained frigid.

Winona shook her head. "No, that's all. I'll be going now."

As he watched her walk toward the elevator, clearly intending to leave with Yulen, Stefan's eyes darkened. Was she really that desperate to go back to him?
