Back at the house, Yulen retrieved a pair of slippers for Winona and placed them at her feet. He used to be this thoughtful when they were dating, but after they got married, he never once bent down to get her slippers again. Winona had noticed the change, but after some online research, she found that most men were like that—two different people before and after the wedding. She had suppressed her disappointment and tried to accept it as normal.

She gave a cynical smile, slipped on the slippers, and walked into the living room. Yulen followed, pouring her a glass of warm water and setting a bowl of washed blueberries in front of her.

His expression was tender. "Winona, you've been working so hard taking care of Nikita and managing your job. You've gotten so thin, and it breaks my heart. Why don't you quit your job and just focus on being with Nikita?"

Winona scoffed. "Whether I quit my job or not is my business. What does it have to do with you?"

Yulen frowned, confused by her sudden hostility. Nikita didn't have much time left, and Winona's job didn't pay much anyway. Being with her grandmother should be her priority. Why couldn't she see that?

He was about to say more, but Winona had already stood up and was heading for the bedroom. "I'm tired. I'm going to rest."

She had no energy left to deal with him. She couldn't give him the life he wanted with two women.
