The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 208

Blythe's blood boiled. If she had known this girl would turn out so heartless, she would have never given birth to her.

Taking a deep breath, she fought to maintain her composure. "It's just a minor misunderstanding. There's no need to drag this into a courtroom. Look, I'll cover all of your grandmother's medical bills, alright?"

Winona let out a sharp, derisive laugh. "I'm going to lunch, Blythe. I don't have time for this nonsense. If you want to defend yourself, save it for the judge."

With that, Winona turned on her heel and walked away.

Once she was seated in a nearby cafe, she dialed Rhea's number.

"Blythe just tracked me down to try and buy my silence. I recorded the whole conversation."

Rhea burst into laughter. "Brilliant! With her trying to bribe you, it's basically an admission of guilt for the assault. Our case just became airtight! Neither of them is wriggling out of this one. Though... do you think Yulen will swoop in to clean up their mess again? If he throws his weight around, things could get complicated."

Winona had already considered that angle.

She smiled faintly. "This time is different. They're absolutely terrified of Yulen hearing the contents of that original recording."

"Got it! Sit tight and wait for the good news!"

When Tallulah found out her mother had failed to buy off Winona, her panic spiraled.

"Mom, Yulen is out of town on a business trip so he doesn't know yet, but he's going to come back eventually! What happens if he finds out?!"

Blythe snapped, "You have a marriage license and you're carrying his baby! Do you really think he's going to dump you over this? Relax. The Locke family desperately wants the child you're carrying. Your position as Mrs. Locke is untouchable."

"But Winona is out for blood! If she leaks everything, I'm ruined!"

Tears of pure terror welled up in Tallulah's eyes.

She absolutely could not afford to lose Yulen.

Blythe's expression darkened. "I'll call her again. I refuse to believe we can't throw enough money at this problem to make it go away."

Winona answered on the second ring.

"What do you want now, Blythe?"

"A million dollars," Blythe offered coldly. "Drop the lawsuit."

Winona chuckled softly. "I told you, I don't want your money."
