The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 209

Camille's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly masked her anxiety with smooth confidence. "I haven't noticed any changes. Sure, she's been a bit moody lately, skipping family dinners with Mom, but whenever we need her for work, she steps right up. Doesn't that prove she still cares about you?"

Camille was known as the sharpest mind in the family. Hearing her logical breakdown instantly soothed Yulen's paranoia.

"You're right. Winona has always loved me. I shouldn't be second-guessing her."

Checking the time on her watch, Camille smoothly changed the subject. "Let's prep for this next meeting. Yulen, a man needs to focus on his empire. As long as you have wealth and power, a woman will never walk away from you."

That resonated perfectly with Yulen's ego. He nodded. "Understood."

Believing that certain crystal pendants carried protective energy, Winona decided to stop by a high-end jewelry boutique after work to buy one for Nikita.

Right outside the store, she ran into Tallulah again.

Tallulah had just finished lunch with some friends and was heading home. Seeing Winona instantly triggered thoughts of her mother, currently sitting in a jail cell. Fueled by rage, she marched right up to her.

"Winona! My mother has been locked up for days because of you. If you had an ounce of decency, you'd drop the charges and get her out."

Winona couldn't even be bothered to roll her eyes. She simply turned to leave.

Tallulah blocked her path, her voice pitching into a shrill shriek. "She is your mother! How can you be so cold-blooded? Are you trying to kill her? Even if she wasn't around much, she's the one who gave you life! Name your price! How much money will it take to make this go away?"

Winona stared her down, her voice deadpan. "I told you, no amount of money is going to make me drop this. If you keep harassing me, my next stop is Yulen's office."

The threat silenced Tallulah instantly, leaving her vibrating with impotent fury.

Winona sidestepped her and walked into the boutique.

She had just started browsing the display cases when she noticed two familiar faces standing nearby—Wynne and Ophelia.

She immediately greeted them. "Mrs. Powell, Ms. Powell."
