Neither of them was a picky eater, so they settled on a nice restaurant nearby.
As the dishes arrived, they chatted over their meal, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly.
When Yulen saw the photos Tallulah had sent, his blood boiled. By the time he tracked them down to the restaurant and saw them laughing together, his face looked like a thundercloud.
She smiled at Stefan. She smiled at Sheldon. But when it came to him, she was nothing but cold and distant.
If she was trying to get under his skin by getting cozy with other men, it was working perfectly.
Yulen was absolutely seething.
He stormed over, grabbed Winona's wrist in a vise grip, and tried to haul her out of her seat.
A sharp pain shot up Winona's arm. When she looked up and saw Yulen, a surge of pure fury ignited in her chest.
"Let go of me, Yulen."
Yulen glared down at her, his voice dripping with ice. "Knock it off, Winona. My patience has limits. Do you ever stop to think about how I feel when you're out dining with other men? Do you even remember that you're a married woman?"
Being subjected to his sudden, baseless accusations made Winona go pale with anger.
"Do you not know the meaning of the word 'respect,' Yulen? Mr. Cohen and I are discussing work."
"Work, work! Stop using work as an excuse! What kind of job requires you to entertain men at a restaurant?" Yulen snapped, shifting his deadly glare to Sheldon.
Being in the pharmaceutical industry, Yulen had naturally crossed paths with Sheldon at various conferences.
"Mr. Cohen is the Chief Engineer at the institute. You shouldn't even have any business with him, should you?"
"That's my business," Winona said coldly. "It has nothing to do with you."
"Your business is my business!" Yulen roared.
Initially, Sheldon had assumed the two were a couple having a lovers' quarrel, so he hadn't wanted to intervene.
But seeing Yulen act so aggressively while Winona looked thoroughly repulsed, he quickly threw that theory out the window.
He took a deep breath, forcing his expression to soften slightly. "I'm sorry, Winona. I was just jealous. Let's go outside and talk this through, okay?"
She gave a cold, hollow laugh. "No."
Since the topic of the marriage license had already come up, she might as well lay all her cards on the table today.
Nikita had already been moved to a safer, heavily guarded hospital where Yulen couldn't reach her. Winona no longer had any reason to keep playing along.
"You don't know this, Yulen, but I already found out that our marriage license is—"
Suddenly, her phone rang, cutting her off.
She picked it up. It was Helena.
"Winona, you need to come quickly. Your grandmother wants to see you."
Winona's heart plummeted.
