Winona turned to Sheldon. "I have an emergency. I have to go."
"I'll drive you," Sheldon offered immediately.
"No, it's fine," Winona said, shaking her head.
She turned to leave, but Yulen blocked her path. "What's wrong? Did something happen to Nikita? Let me take you..."
It was as if he had completely forgotten the immense pain he and Tallulah had inflicted on her grandmother.
But Winona hadn't.
Without a second thought, she grabbed the glass of water from the table and threw it directly into Yulen's face.
Yulen stared at her in utter disbelief, shocked that she would actually do something like that in public.
"Winona!"
Disgust was written all over her face. "You make me sick, Yulen. Stay away from me and my family."
It was the first time she had ever spoken to him with such icy cruelty.
Yulen stood there, dumbfounded, entirely forgetting to reach out and grab her arm.
Winona didn't spare him another glance and marched out of the restaurant.
Seeing Yulen snap out of it and attempt to give chase, Sheldon stepped squarely in his way, gloating. "Didn't you hear her? She said you make her sick. Why do you keep humiliating yourself?"
Remembering the sheer revulsion in Winona's eyes, a wave of panic washed over Yulen.
Did Winona actually hate him?
Impossible.
He shoved Sheldon aside and ran after her.
By the time Winona reached the hospital and saw Nikita resting safely in her hospital bed, the heavy dread in her chest finally dissolved into relief.
She turned to Helena. "Why didn't you explain clearly on the phone? You scared me half to death."
Thinking of the heartbreaking despair in Wynne's eyes whenever she spoke of her children, Winona's heart ached with sympathy.

At the hospital entrance, Yulen, who had tailed Winona all the way there, was intercepted by two burly bodyguards.
He shot the men a cold glare, a bitter wave of jealousy churning in his gut.
Stefan was actually going to these lengths for Winona. If someone tried to tell him Stefan had no ulterior motives regarding his ex-wife, Yulen would never buy it.
But since he couldn't get past security, he had no choice but to wait by his car.
An hour later, Winona finally walked out of the hospital doors.
Yulen stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and pulled her toward his car.
Unable to break free, Winona was forced into the passenger seat, glaring at him with blazing fury.
Yulen forcefully pushed down the memory of her cruel words at the restaurant. All he wanted was for things to go back to the way they were. Softening his tone, he tried to coax her. "Winona, please stop fighting with me. I'm exhausted from dealing with work, and trying to appease you on top of it is draining. And why didn't you discuss transferring Nikita to a new hospital with me? I'm your family. Stefan is just an outsider. Why do you trust him and not me?"
