The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 317

Seeing her step out, Yulen immediately closed the distance, grabbing her wrist and practically dragging her into his car.

Winona frowned deeply. "Let go of me."

His eyes darted to the faded bite mark on her arm and the faint, healing burns near her collarbone.

A dark, mocking smile crossed his face. "So getting kidnapped and nearly burned alive still isn't enough to wake you up?"

Yulen had been out drinking with a friend from the police department the night before and had accidentally overheard the details of Maeve's case.

When he found out Winona had been in danger, his chest had tightened with genuine panic.

But the moment he learned it was Stefan Goddard who had carried her out of the fire, that panic violently morphed into toxic jealousy.

If she hadn't insisted on tangling herself up with Stefan, none of this would have happened.

Winona's expression remained entirely frigid. "This has nothing to do with you."

"How does it not concern me?!" Yulen snapped. "You only got close to him to make me jealous. And now you almost got killed for it. Haven't you figured it out yet? The Goddard family is a snake pit. If you fall in, you'll drown. Even if it's strictly business, stop seeing him. I'm saying this for your own good."

Winona slowly raised her eyes, her gaze dead serious. "I didn't become friends with him to make you jealous."

Yulen's face darkened instantly. "Don't tell me you actually have feelings for him."

Winona gave a small, deliberate smile. "He's exceptional in every way. Why wouldn't I like him?"

Something inside Yulen snapped. His face contorted with rage, his eyes locking onto hers with terrifying intensity.

"Say that again."

"I said, liking a man like him is perfectly natural."

Before the words fully left her mouth, his hand clamped around her throat. The sudden loss of air made her instinctively claw at his fingers, desperately trying to pry him off.

But his grip didn't loosen a fraction. It was as if he genuinely wanted to crush her windpipe.

"I can tolerate you throwing tantrums. I can tolerate the drama. But I will never tolerate you cheating! You are mine. No one else gets to touch you."

Just as black spots began dancing across her vision, he violently released her.
