The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 600

On her second night in Seabrook City, Winona went out to dinner with the local R&D team.

The restaurant featured a live hand-pulled pasta demonstration. In a matter of seconds, the chef transformed a lump of dough into strands as thin as hair.

A few of her female colleagues pulled out their phones to record it.

"Is it just me, or is he totally gorgeous?" one of them whispered. "His body is amazing. I heard an agency tried to sign him as an influencer, but he loves making pasta too much to quit."

"He is really hot. If we're grading out of ten, I'd give him a solid nine."

The other women quickly chimed in with their ratings.

Someone turned to Winona. "What do you think, Winona?"

Winona finally gave the chef a proper look. She firmly believed the man waiting for her at home was leagues above him, but she played along. "Yeah, I'd give him a nine, too."

One of her colleagues teased, "Winona, you're stunning. When you're looking for a guy, what's more important to you? Looks or talent?"

The male colleagues at the table immediately perked up, waiting for her answer.

Winona thought of Stefan, smiled softly, and stayed quiet.

She used to think she had a type. Now, she realized Stefan was simply the standard.

By her fifth day in Seabrook City, Winona had finished her work ahead of schedule.

She booked the earliest flight out for the following morning, set her alarm for 5:00 AM, and got ready for bed.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door.

Winona hadn't ordered room service, and none of her colleagues would be visiting this late.

A jolt of unease ran through her. She was just about to call the front desk when her phone rang.

It was Stefan.

She answered it, and his deep, velvet voice filled her ear. "I'm outside your door."

She froze for a split second before sprinting to the door and throwing it open. The moment she saw his face, an overwhelming wave of pure joy crashed over her.

She reached out and threw her arms around him, desperately needing to confirm he was actually real.

Stefan wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, a devastating smile breaking across his face.

"I missed you."

Winona looked up and captured his lips. "I missed you, too."

He kissed her back with a fierce hunger, kicking the door shut behind them and carrying her into the room.

The atmosphere instantly ignited.

Stefan's breathing was heavy and ragged. "I need a shower."

When Sylvan Scully saw the news, he was floored.

He immediately called his assistant. "Did he really lead the development of this robot?"

"Yes, sir," his assistant confirmed.

Sylvan thought of Project Empath, the robotics initiative he was currently funding that was still dragging its feet in the R&D phase, while Forrest had already successfully launched a superior product. A wave of irritation washed over him.

"If he’s this brilliant, why didn't Riverton University recommend him to lead Project Empath in the first place?"

The assistant sighed, fighting the urge to roll his eyes. "Mr. Scully, you were the one who explicitly stated he was too young and inexperienced to lead a project."

Sylvan suddenly remembered. It was true.

Because of the entire situation with Giselle, he had been blindingly prejudiced against the young man. He never imagined Forrest was a genuine prodigy.

Sylvan scoffed defensively. "Then the university executives are at fault for misleading me. And you didn't do your job properly either. Why didn't you investigate his actual track record?"

The assistant felt incredibly wronged. He had practically begged Sylvan to reconsider, explicitly outlining how talented Forrest was.

But Sylvan refused to listen to anyone but himself.

Frustrated by his own massive miscalculation, Sylvan waved his hand dismissively. "Forget it. We'll find another opportunity to collaborate with him in the future."

When Winona arrived home, a package was waiting for her: the newest companion robot, a gift sent personally by Forrest Kane.
