The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 622

Not wanting Simone to get the wrong idea later, Forrest decided total transparency was the best policy. He quickly explained the entire situation with Karina.

Simone's eyes narrowed, instantly on high alert. "She's trying to steal you?"

The girl she'd seen in the hall was pretty and obviously came from money. If Karina threw herself at Forrest relentlessly, would he cave?

Forrest nodded. "Yes, but I have zero interest. I've rejected her countless times."

Simone still looked anxious. "But what if? What if she just wears you down and you feel sorry for her and say yes?"

Forrest gave her a look of utter disbelief before his expression softened into absolute sincerity. "Simone, I'm with you because I like you. I'm attracted to you. I didn't say yes just because you confessed to me. I chose you."

If he dated every woman who threw herself at him, he wouldn't have time to sleep. He wasn't that kind of guy.

Simone entirely missed the logic, locking onto one specific phrase. "Wait... you liked me before I confessed?"

Does that mean it wasn't unrequited? Was it mutual from the start?

Simone prided herself on being a highly rational, analytical woman. But whenever Forrest looked at her with those dark, intense eyes, her brain melted into mush. Honestly, no one could look at a face that perfect and remain objective.

Seeing her dazed, dopey smile, Forrest knew he had lost her to her own daydreams again. He sighed affectionately. "So, we're clear, right? No misunderstandings? I just want you to know that I don't play games, and there's no one else but you."

Simone snapped back to reality, beaming brightly. "Got it! I trust you completely. Next time she shows up, just tell me. I'll personally chew her out and send her packing."

"Deal," Forrest smiled.

Sitting nearby, Winona felt like she had just been force-fed a five-course meal of pure romance. But seeing how solid their relationship was, and that Karina's stunt hadn't caused a rift, she was relieved.

Karina had seen what Ezra was capable of. The sheer, terrifying conviction in his voice made her freeze. The blood drained from her face.

Ezra released her arm with a slight shove, turning to escort Winona into the elevator.

Left alone in the hallway, Karina's chest heaved with fury. Winona was terrifyingly manipulative. She must have completely brainwashed Stefan to have his guards so fiercely loyal to her. Stefan was a genius—how could he be so blind?

The next day at the office, Winona ordered takeout with her colleagues. When her lunch arrived and she peeled back the lid, a putrid smell hit her. The meat and vegetables were covered in a slimy film and completely spoiled.

She quickly snapped the lid back on and called the restaurant. The owner was adamant. Their kitchen had pristine standards; nothing like that had ever happened. He asked her for a photo.

Suppressing her gag reflex, Winona opened the container, snapped a picture, and sent it over.

A moment later, the owner replied. "Someone swapped your food. This didn't come from our kitchen. Does your office lobby have security cameras? You need to find out who messed with your delivery."
