The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 648

"Honestly, I didn't have to do much. The child works hard all on her own," Sylvan laughed heartily.

Standing beside him, Giselle maintained a picture-perfect, elegant smile. She knew exactly what Sylvan's ideal daughter looked like, and she only needed to play the part.

Just then, Giselle noticed Stefan was also at the dinner.

She felt completely different from before. Not only did she have the affection of Wynne and Sylvan, but she was also in line to inherit shares and a massive fortune. She was now a celebrated scientific goddess online. Surely Stefan would view her differently now, right?

When she saw Stefan standing alone, she approached him and took the initiative to strike up a conversation.

"Mr. Goddard, came alone tonight?"

Stefan rarely brought Winona to these kinds of business dinners. Giselle assumed he thought Winona was too embarrassing to show off. After all, despite being pretty, Winona came from an ordinary background, had average taste, and only knew how to do research. She had no idea how to socialize and definitely couldn't handle events like this.

Stefan gave her a customary nod, his expression still icy, and turned to leave.

Giselle stepped in his way. "I know the Goddard Group has been branching into pharmaceutical R&D over the last two years. Not only do I understand the science, but I also understand the market. I can be a much bigger asset to you than Winona. And, of course, if you ever need it, I'd be more than happy to take care of you in your personal life as well."

Her gaze was seductive and soft. She figured she was being incredibly obvious; there was no way he didn't understand her implication. Besides, he had been with Winona for quite a while now. He had to be bored of her by now.

"Are you offering to be my mistress, Ms. Reed?" Stefan asked coldly.

Giselle's cheeks flushed. "How could you look down on me like that? With my status, I am more than qualified to be your girlfriend."

Stefan's eyes grew even colder.

"Have some self-respect. I have absolutely no interest in you."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Rejected yet again.

Stefan took her hand, and they continued strolling down the aisle.

Due to all the late nights, drinking, and irregular meals, Giselle had been having stomach pains all evening. She thought it was a gastrointestinal issue and went looking for medicine, only to realize she had gotten her period. Her cycle had been all over the place for the last six months, so she was unprepared and out of supplies. Enduring the cramps, she had no choice but to head out to buy some.

Clutching her stomach, her face pale, she walked into the supermarket—and immediately spotted Stefan and Winona.

Their tightly locked hands and their deeply affectionate expressions felt like a stab right through her heart.

Suddenly, she felt like what she had still wasn't enough.

The love of her parents, the vast fortune, the glamorous job, the praise of the internet—none of it compared to having Stefan's love. Being cherished by a man like that was a woman's greatest glory.

In that moment, her jealousy toward Winona reached its absolute peak.
