The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 665

Giselle overheard some colleagues mentioning that Zack Charlton would once again be delivering the progress report for the PD-1 inhibitor project.

She was livid.

She had bitten her tongue when Zack bypassed her the last time.

Now, Dean Ziegler was letting him take the lead again? It was a blatant sign of disrespect.

Plus, after watching Winona steal the show at the summit a few days ago, Giselle was desperate to prove her own worth.

She marched straight into Dean Ziegler’s office.

"Dean Ziegler, could I please handle the PD-1 inhibitor presentation this time?"

The Dean pushed his glasses up his nose. "But you're not fully caught up on the project's progress, are you? The audience won't just be government officials; there will be heavyweights from the private sector too. Are you absolutely certain you can handle it?"

Because the project was backed by Riverton city funds, local government leaders were heavily invested.

They not only required regular updates but subjected the research to rigorous industry oversight.

Hearing that important figures would be in attendance only solidified Giselle’s resolve. "I'm confident I can do just as well as Zack. Don't you trust my capabilities, Professor Ziegler?"

He gave her a complicated look.

If this were the old Giselle, he might have believed in her. But the current Giselle? She skipped work, slacked off, and showed zero dedication. He didn't trust her in the slightest.

He sighed. "Just listen to me on this. Let Zack handle the presentation."

Furious at the rejection, Giselle stormed out of the office and immediately called Sylvan Scully to complain.

"Don't worry, it's an easy fix," Sylvan assured her. "I'll have a chat with the Dean. Wait for my text."

By that afternoon, Giselle received an official message from Dean Ziegler. She would be doing the presentation.

She immediately straightened her posture, her eyes practically sparkling with arrogance.

When Zack walked past her desk, she stood up and stopped him. "Zack, no hard feelings, okay? I just want to elevate the prestige of this presentation, which is why I took it on. You're great, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of chances in the future."

But when she finished, the applause was scattered and polite at best.

Giselle's smile froze.

Then, an industry veteran raised his hand and asked a highly technical question.

Although Giselle had skimmed the project files, she hadn't actually done the hands-on research. She stood there, completely stumped, unable to form a coherent sentence.

Seeing the institute about to be publicly humiliated, Dean Ziegler frantically shoved Zack onto the stage.

Zack grabbed the microphone from the moderator and expertly broke down the answer.

He even expanded on the topic, offering a novel perspective that genuinely impressed the veteran.

"Did you come up with that on your own?"

Zack smiled humbly. "Actually, I was brainstorming with my senior, Ms. Winona Jowett, and she pointed me in this direction. So strictly speaking, the core concept was hers."
