The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 698

Wynne had desperately wanted to be by Winona's side as she was discharged, but Winona firmly insisted her mother stay in the hospital bed to recover.

Once she was settled back home, Winona didn't hide anything. She immediately video-called Stefan and told him exactly what had happened.

She knew if Stefan heard about the attack from Ezra, he would panic and instantly board a private jet back to Riverton.

But she was safe now, protected by Ezra, Waldo, and the rest of the security detail. She was more than capable of handling the fallout herself, and she refused to let Stefan abandon his critical negotiations overseas because of her.

As expected, the moment Stefan heard the details, his face darkened, and he demanded to fly back immediately.

Winona quickly talked him down. "Stefan, trust me. I can handle this. And with my mom and Mr. Powell looking out for me, I'm not going to be in any danger."

Stefan paused, his eyes widening slightly. "Wynne told you?"

"No, I pieced it together myself," Winona replied softly.

Before Stefan could figure out how to explain why he had kept the secret, Winona continued, "I still don't know the full story of why I was separated from her, but my heart knows she's my mother. Stefan... can you tell me what actually happened back then?"

Stefan exhaled deeply and laid out everything his investigators had uncovered.

Decades ago, a deranged nurse had kidnapped Winona and Forrest Kane from the hospital. The nurse had abused them for a time before dumping both infants by a river.

Forrest had been found and adopted by the woman who raised him.

Winona, through a cruel twist of fate, ended up in the Jowett family.

"So Forrest really is my brother?" Winona asked, her eyes widening.

She accepted it almost instantly. It made perfect sense. It explained the inexplicable, immediate bond she had felt with him. The pull of blood was a powerful thing.

"But what about the original baby from the Jowett family?"

Stefan went completely silent.
