The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 707

Sylvan tried to approach the stage, but Wynne and the kids completely iced him out. Being shut out by his own flesh and blood felt like a physical blow.

Winona's phone buzzed with a text from Stefan: "Happy birthday, Win. I left a present at the apartment. You'll see it when you get home."

It was her first birthday as Wynne's actual daughter.

"Thank you," she texted back, smiling. She knew his security detail had already briefed him on the party's explosive drama, so she didn't bother recapping it.

Wynne handed over her gifts—a stunning necklace for Winona and a sleek luxury watch for Forrest.

"Don't be upset that the shares only went to your sister," Wynne told him gently. "In the Walden family, the trust fund strictly favors female heirs. I inherited the equity, while my brother only got the real estate."

"It's perfectly fine, Mom," Forrest replied with a warm smile. "She deserves it. I don't mind at all."

Wynne was immensely relieved by his maturity. She had worried he might feel slighted. But she knew Sylvan's archaic, patriarchal mindset meant the Scully Group empire would eventually go to Forrest, not Winona. Even though she despised her ex-husband, she would ruthlessly ensure her son got exactly what was his.

As the night wound down, Winona hugged her mother and brother goodbye and took a town car home.

Stepping off the elevator, she found Yulen standing in the hallway.

"Win," his voice was rough, desperate. "Whether you believe it or not, you are the only woman I have ever truly loved."

Winona let out a dark, mocking laugh. "You expect me to believe that? You nearly had a second kid with Tallulah, and you just spent the weekend sleeping with Giselle. That's your version of true love? You're pathetic."

She keyed into her apartment and let the door shut behind her.

Staring at the closed door, Yulen felt a sickening wave of self-loathing. He had owned the most priceless, irreplaceable thing in the world, and he had thrown it in the trash for cheap thrills.
