The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 714

Daisy went to the detention center to visit Giselle.

Giselle had lost a noticeable amount of weight. The moment she saw Daisy, she latched onto her like a lifeline.

"Daisy, you have to help me. You're the only one who can."

For the past few days, she had begged her lawyers to pass messages to Sylvan and Wynne, but neither of them was willing to lift a finger. They had spent so much time together—did they really not care about her at all?

Daisy grabbed her hand, leaning in close, her voice a low, coercive whisper. "Giselle, you need to plead guilty to all the charges. Take the fall. Serve your time, and when you get out in a few years, I promise to set you up with a very comfortable life. You'll still be young. Finding a rich man won't be hard."

Giselle's eyes widened in sheer horror. "They're talking about twelve years! I'm only twenty-six! I'll rot in here for the best years of my life. By the time I get out, my life will be over!"

"Giselle!" Daisy's tone turned razor-sharp. "You defrauded them out of millions, you drugged them, and you committed a hit-and-run while intoxicated. Those were your actions. I didn't force you to do any of it. It's time to pay the price. This is what happens when you refuse to stay in your lane and just play the dutiful body double."

"But... but!" Giselle stammered, her mind scrambling for a defense. Finally, she lashed out. "I only did those things because you kept hinting that you could get rid of Winona so I could keep my place! And because Sylvan and Wynne gave me too much! They corrupted me with their wealth. I had a great future ahead of me. I had a career! It's because of all of you that I ended up like this!"

Daisy let out a cruel, mocking laugh. "So you couldn't resist the temptation, and somehow that's everyone else's fault? The money was handed to you on a silver platter, and you were too stupid to hold onto it. Who can you blame but yourself?"
