The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 75

Eloise sneered at Winona, "You’ve got some nerve, Winona. Tagging along while a couple’s having dinner?"

Winona ignored her and continued eating.

Tallulah glanced nervously at Yulen. The last thing she wanted was for him to find out she'd been telling everyone about their relationship.

Yulen, not wanting Winona to get the wrong idea, snapped at Eloise, "Who are you? What nonsense are you spouting?"

Seeing Yulen's dark expression, Eloise was confused about what she had said to anger him. She looked to Tallulah for an explanation.

But Tallulah suddenly stood up. "Alright, we have things to discuss. Eloise, you should go."

Eloise was annoyed that she hadn't gotten a rise out of Winona. However, she only knew Tallulah through Daphne and wasn't close enough to overstay her welcome. She left with a disgruntled look on her face.

Once she was gone, Tallulah quickly said, "It seems Eloise misunderstood the situation between Yulen and me. I'll be sure to clear it up with her next time."

Yulen's expression softened. "You should. We can’t let that kind of rumor spread."

He picked up his fork and placed a piece of crab-stuffed mushroom on Winona’s plate. “The stuffed mushrooms here are excellent. Winona, you should try one.”

Winona didn't touch it, eating her meal in silence. She had the baby to think about now, and she couldn’t afford to let herself fall apart. Whatever game Yulen and Tallulah were playing, she wanted no part in it.

After dinner, Winona stood up to leave. Yulen was about to follow and continue trying to persuade her to come home, but tonight, it seemed the world was conspiring against him. A few clients who did business with the Locke Group happened to be dining at the same restaurant.

She looked at him coldly, as though she were seeing him clearly for the first time. "Enough, Yulen. You’re making me sick."

She was about to expose his hypocrisy when her phone rang. It was Nikita's number.

Fearing something had happened at home, she answered immediately. The voice on the other end was unfamiliar. "Is this Winona? I'm Helena's neighbor. Helena got into a fight with another woman at home and stabbed her, and then Matteo hit Helena... The police took them both away, and your grandmother fainted! You need to get over here, quickly!"

Winona swayed, nearly collapsing.

Yulen rushed to support her. "What's wrong, Winona?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
