Orion looked displeased. "Stefan, don't treat us like outsiders. She's with you, she's your partner. How can the family's business have nothing to do with her?"

Stefan's tone turned dominant. "I said it has nothing to do with her, so it doesn't. Uncle Orion, we have things to do. Excuse us."

He led Winona away.

Orion watched them leave, his face dark with displeasure.

Stefan chuckled. "Dealing with him is easy. The hardest ones in my family are my uncle Kade and his wife."

Winona was curious. "What kind of people are they?"

"Uncle Kade is a perfect gentleman, polite to everyone. His wife is gentle, virtuous, and loves taking care of people. In our family, everyone praises them; no one ever says a bad word about them. But years ago, when I joined the Goddard Group, they were the ones who incited the shareholders to restrict me, orchestrated 'accidents' to injure me, and drugged my sister."
