Winona's phone buzzed in her clutch. It was a text from Stefan. He had arrived. She scanned the grand entrance of the ballroom and immediately spotted his tall, commanding figure.
Turning to Wynne and the elders, she smiled brightly. "Stefan's here. I'm going to go grab him so he can properly say hello."
Seeing the sheer joy light up Winona's eyes, Elaine and Pansy exchanged a knowing, delighted smile. Winona gracefully made her way across the room. Stefan's dark eyes locked onto her instantly, softening as she approached. Without a word, he reached out, intertwining his fingers firmly with hers.
"I brought you something," he murmured, pulling a breathtaking gemstone necklace from his breast pocket and gently clasping it around her neck.
Several guests turned to stare, whispering in awe. Winona felt her cheeks heat up. "Why didn't you give this to me last night?" He was being entirely too flashy.
Stefan smirked, his thumb grazing her jaw. "Because I wanted to give it to you in front of everyone. Let them all see exactly who you belong to."
Winona shook her head, unable to hide her smile, and led him over to meet Elaine and Pansy. The two matriarchs were immediately charmed by Stefan's impeccable manners. After a brief chat, they tactfully excused themselves to the VIP lounge so Winona and Stefan could enjoy the party.
Two wealthy socialites, who were close friends with Margaret, noticed Stefan holding hands with the Walden family's newly discovered heiress. Unable to contain their gossip, they approached. "Stefan, darling! Is this your date for the evening? Or perhaps a new girlfriend?"
