The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 777

Without a second glance at Ophelia, Wesley strode directly toward Winona. Ophelia stood frozen, staring after him in disbelief. Why was Wesley Hewitt also under Winona's spell?!

"Winona!" Wesley greeted her warmly. "When I saw your name on the invitation, I honestly couldn't believe it. I'm so glad it's really you."

"Hello, Mr. Hewitt," Winona replied, her tone perfectly polite but undeniably distant.

Wesley held out an elegant gift box. "Come on, no need for the formalities. We've known each other for a while now. Just call me Wesley."

He completely ignored the imposing presence of Stefan standing right beside her. Stefan's jaw tightened, the temperature around him dropping several degrees. Winona accepted the box with a brief nod of thanks. Undeterred, Wesley pressed on. "There's a ballroom dance scheduled for later. May I have the honor of the first dance?"

Winona felt Stefan's grip on her waist turn possessive. "I'm not feeling quite up to it tonight," she declined smoothly. "I'm sure you'll find plenty of willing partners, Mr. Hewitt."

Wesley sighed dramatically. "What a shame. If you're tired, I'd be happy to escort you to the lounge to rest."

Stefan's patience snapped. He stepped slightly in front of Winona, blocking Wesley's view. "I am perfectly capable of taking care of my partner. Enjoy the party, Mr. Hewitt."

The territorial edge in Stefan's voice was unmistakable. Wesley smirked, holding his hands up in mock surrender. "Don't misunderstand, Stefan. I merely admire Winona. I just want to be friends."

Stefan stared him down, his eyes flat and unamused. "Funny. Every guy trying to poach someone else's girl uses that exact same line."
