The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 780

Daisy was right. Days passed, and Stefan never showed up at the hospital to interrogate her. However, word reached Ophelia that the waitress had been fired and was currently facing a massive, career-ending lawsuit. Ophelia lived in a state of constant, suffocating paranoia. Half of her was terrified Stefan would walk through the door, and the other half was devastated that he didn't care enough to even yell at her.

The endless anxiety took a toll on her already broken body, leaving her frail and exhausted. Watching her waste away, Daisy finally snapped. "How long are you going to keep this up? Are you just going to lie here and rot like a kicked dog while Winona lives the high life?"

The harsh words struck a nerve. Ophelia clenched her fists, turning desperate eyes to her sister. "Then what am I supposed to do?"

"Ryder offered you a position at the Powell Group, didn't he?" Daisy said, her eyes flashing with ambition. "Since you refuse to look at another man, there's no point in me setting you up. Take the job. Claw your way to the top and take absolute control of the Powell Group."

Ophelia frowned, shrinking back into her pillows. "But I hate corporate management. I don't want to work." She had always envisioned herself living like Margaret—a pampered billionaire's wife who spent her days planning charity galas, dabbling in light investments, and hosting high-society teas.

Daisy rolled her eyes, marveling at Ophelia's sheer naivety. "Listen to me very carefully. Money and power are the only things in this world that will never betray you. A man's love is an illusion. Look at me. I have Orion Goddard wrapped around my finger, but do you see me sitting at home doing nothing? No. I am using his money, his name, and his network to build my own empire."

Daisy briefly listed off the real estate, shell companies, and offshore accounts she had quietly accumulated over the past few months.
