Winona highly doubted he could actually step away from his work.
Seeing her skepticism, Stefan forwarded his schedule for the next two years directly to her phone. "I won't be traveling internationally for the next two years. I've also hired five senior assistants. By the time you deliver, they should be fully up to speed on handling a significant portion of my daily tasks. I'll just be directing things from behind the scenes."
In the past, the severe internal factions within the Goddard family meant Stefan had to handle everything personally.
But now, he had systematically uprooted the dissenting factions within the group and placed his own trusted people in key positions. He no longer needed to run himself ragged.
Hearing that he had intentionally restructured his empire just to take leave with her filled Winona's heart with an overwhelming sense of warmth.
She knew plenty of men who viewed raising a child as solely a woman's job. But Stefan wasn't like them.
She rested a hand over her bump, her eyes softening. She had picked a wonderful father for her baby.
Before she knew it, another month had slipped by.
Winona could feel her center of gravity shifting as her belly grew heavier, sometimes leaving her short of breath if she walked for too long.
Jericho Harper was keenly aware of her condition. He canceled all her networking dinners and practically forbade her from working overtime.
Knowing that practically no one in the office could seamlessly take over her workload when her maternity leave started, Jericho had no choice but to hire an additional assistant to help manage her tasks.
He even made a point to call Stefan, reminding him to hire two maternity nurses ahead of time. Winona's expertise was currently irreplaceable, and she would likely need to continue some level of remote work during her leave.
Stefan knew perfectly well that Winona's career was just as important to her as his was to him. He assured Jericho, "I will fully support Winona's work. I won't let her career take a backseat."
Jericho was deeply satisfied with that answer. Winona was a rare talent in research and development; letting her brilliant mind go to waste on household chores would have been a tragedy.
One evening, while Stefan was tied up in a late meeting, Winona took a leisurely stroll around their upscale neighborhood.
