The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 875

Shiloh let out a tired laugh. "I can't do that, Candida. You already have a great life. If you keep going after Winona, you're going to lose everything you have right now. Consider that my final piece of advice before I leave."

He saw the reality clearly: Stefan was incredibly protective of Winona. If Candida kept trying to make Winona miserable, she would inevitably incur Stefan's wrath.

Sylvan Scully had refused to make Candida his official partner for years, which proved she wasn't exactly his top priority. If Sylvan found out she had provoked Stefan, would he really stick his neck out to maintain her luxurious lifestyle?

Shiloh had said his piece. Whether his cousin listened was up to her.

That night, Winona finally learned from Stefan what had triggered Mrs. Mallory's psychotic break.

They had gone through Mrs. Mallory's phone and found anonymous text messages containing photos of Maeve supposedly living in squalor abroad, including pictures of her being abused.

Stefan had kept a close eye on Maeve; while she certainly wasn't living in the lap of luxury anymore, she wasn't being tortured either. The photos were entirely fabricated.

"Who sent them?" Winona asked.

"Daisy Falconer."

Winona pressed her lips together tightly.

"We didn't move against her before because we lacked hard evidence, and Uncle Orion has been shielding her," Stefan explained. "Now, we have everything we need. We're just waiting for the perfect moment."

"What moment?"

"She and Uncle Orion are already legally married. They're hosting the wedding next Saturday. That will be the perfect time to drop the bomb."

"What about your uncle?" Winona asked.

Stefan let out a cold laugh. "Do you honestly think a man who sleeps next to Daisy every night has no idea who she really is? He plays dumb because he benefits from it. If I don't expose her true colors on a completely public stage, he'll just deny everything and keep protecting her."
