The teacher had leaned in to whisper those last two sentences directly into Gardenia's ear, but Natalie hadn't walked far enough away yet and heard every word.
She pressed her lips together and let out a cold laugh.
Mia tugged on Natalie's hand. "What's wrong?" Natalie asked gently.
"I want to invite Adrian over to play!" Mia turned to Adrian with a huge grin. "I have two pet turtles! Do you want to come to my house and see them?"
Adrian's expression remained perfectly calm. He thought for a second, then looked up at Hassan.
"Do you want to go?" Hassan asked.
Adrian nodded. "Yes."
Natalie froze in her tracks.
Hassan casually replied, "Let's all go, then. It's been a while since I've paid a visit anyway."
Natalie lowered her eyes. "In that case, you can take Mia with you. I'm not going."
Mia stopped walking and immediately hugged Natalie's leg. "Natalie, please come with me! You haven't been to my house in forever, and I want to show you my turtles too!"
Mia was an absolute expert at whining and acting cute, and Natalie eventually gave in with a helpless sigh.
Natalie led Mia to a black Bentley.
Seeing only the side profile of the car, Hassan immediately recognized that it wasn't Natalie's.
He stared at it intently with dark eyes until Gardenia finally spoke up, "We should get in the car too."
Hassan's expression remained unreadable as he gave a curt nod.
The two cars drove to the Sheridan estate, one trailing behind the other.
Hassan had called ahead to give the family a heads-up, ensuring they wouldn't be caught off guard and could have everything prepared.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Sr. were completely shocked by Hassan's sudden visit.
They were well aware that Jude and Hassan had suffered a massive falling out years ago.
