She froze slightly, lowered her eyes, and pressed her lips into a tight line.

Stewart Walsh's eyesight wasn't great, and he genuinely didn't recognize Natalie. He squinted slightly. "Who is the young lady sitting next to Hassan?"

Suddenly, everyone's attention snapped to Natalie.

Natalie was undeniably beautiful, but her dramatic smoky makeup completely clashed with the refined, understated aesthetics favored by the elite. It gave her a rebellious, almost delinquent edge that left a rather poor impression.

Even though Cecily didn't want to admit it, staying silent right now would only humiliate the Carlsons. She forced a polite smile and quickly defended her. "Natalie has had some free time at home lately, so she's been experimenting with new makeup styles. It's a massive trend among the youth right now. I actually think it looks quite fresh."

Forced to respect the Carlson matriarch, the crowd chuckled politely, swallowing their mockery.

The banquet was lively, but Natalie felt entirely detached from it all.

After some mingling, the staff ushered everyone into the dining hall. Naturally, Natalie was seated next to Hassan. In public settings like this, she still played her part flawlessly.

But somehow—perhaps due to a seating error—Gardenia and her child ended up sitting right beside Hassan as well.

Halfway through the meal, Warren Walsh came over to offer a toast. When he reached Hassan, he raised his glass. "Thanks for honoring my grandfather's birthday banquet. A toast to you." After downing his drink, he turned to Gardenia and added, "Mrs. Carlson, a toast to you as well. I didn't realize your kid was already this big!"

Dead silence fell over the table. Not a single person dared to breathe.

Everyone quietly shifted their gaze toward Natalie, burning with curiosity to see how she would retaliate against such a spectacular blunder.

Anyone who was even somewhat close to Hassan knew that Natalie was notoriously prone to jealousy.
