The topic of conversation at the table abruptly shifted to children.

Most heirs in their circles who were Hassan's age already had at least two kids.

Hassan was definitely the exception.

Cecily casually turned to Natalie. "No rush. It'll happen sooner or later. Before, I figured you were six years younger than Hassan and too young to be having kids. But you're twenty-four now—the golden age. Now is the perfect time to start."

Natalie kept her head down and gave a soft hum of agreement.

Just then, an oblivious little kid at the table started counting on his fingers and blurted out, "Twenty-four plus six is thirty... Isn't Mr. Carlson getting a bit too old?"

Instantly, the air in the room froze. The kid's parents clamped a hand over his mouth.

Natalie actually failed to suppress a quick snort of laughter.

The man beside her immediately shot her a sharp look.

Natalie licked her lips and dialed back her smile. She honestly hadn't meant to—she just couldn't hold it in.

"What do kids know about getting old?" Cecily smoothly deflected to save face. "If he's old, then I must be positively ancient."

Natalie noted that Cecily was far more forgiving with children. When Warren Walsh misspoke during the toast, Cecily had instantly turned hostile. But when this child made a faux pas, she wasn't angry at all. The elderly really did have a soft spot for kids.

Her thoughts drifted to Adrian.

If Cecily knew that Adrian was actually Hassan's son, what would she do?

After dinner, the guests moved to the courtyard corridors to play cards.

The estate's landscaping was sprawling and magnificent, modeled after traditional Eastern gardens. There was a long, winding corridor with pavilions every ten steps. Stone tables were set up inside for card games, surrounded by the serene sound of flowing water and decorative rockeries. It was an incredibly elegant, tranquil atmosphere.

Hassan, naturally, was pulled into a poker game.

Natalie had originally planned to slip away.
