Yet she couldn't quite believe it. She had never heard him sing a love song before.

She hadn't even thought he knew how.

Nor was he the type to set foot in a low-end club like this.

As for who he was here for, she already knew the answer.

She had pressed that panic button, and for a fleeting second, his face had crossed her mind as a beacon of hope—but she had swiftly buried that thought.

She refused to pin her hopes on him ever again.

She was waiting for the police.

And now, the serenade coming from next door proved she had made the right choice.

Relying on him would have been the true death sentence.

Natalie stared at the ceiling, her eyes burning as the unnatural heat from the drug began to ignite her blood.

Not long after, the singing abruptly stopped. Hassan's voice vanished.

Then, the heavy door to her room violently rattled as someone kicked it repeatedly from the outside.

The thunderous noise made the two thugs jump out of their skin.

"What the hell is going on? Go check who it is! Ask first, don't just open the door," the burly man ordered the scrawny one.

Terrified by the relentless pounding, the scrawny guy stammered, "Who is it? What do you want? This room is occupied!"

No answer came from the corridor. Instead, a sharp electronic beep followed.

The club manager had rushed over with a master keycard and unlocked it.

"Mr. Carlson," the manager stammered, shrinking under the towering man's presence.

He hadn't expected to be summoned by someone of this caliber. Even though club policy strictly protected client privacy, the sheer, suffocating aura radiating from the man had terrified him into opening the door without a second thought.

Hassan glared at the two thugs. His jaw was set like stone, the sharp, cold lines of his face emanating a murderous chill. "Get out."

The two men, paralyzed by fear, bolted for the exit.
