Natalie still went through with selling the bag. The matte glacier blue double-dot Nile crocodile leather was incredibly rare on the market, especially completely brand new. The buyer offered her 2.8 million.

After finishing up, she texted the director of the underwater dance group to ask for two days off.

The director wasn't surprised at all that she was taking time off right during rehearsals, replying warmly, "Get some rest. We're in no rush over here."

Natalie also received a concerned message from Cora Vance. "I heard you're taking time off. Are you feeling sick?"

"A little, but don't worry, I'm already feeling much better."

A moment later, Cora sent another message. "I'm having someone send you some things. Where should I send them? Don't worry, it's just food."

Understanding it was out of care, Natalie thought for a moment before giving the address of Sunriver Residences, which was Nancy Gaines's place.

She had to go to the lab now and would likely stay at Nancy's later that evening.

Natalie specifically wore loose jeans, but Marvin Ford still noticed her awkward gait. "What's wrong with your legs?"

She shook her head. "I tripped. It's nothing."

Marvin knew the Carlson family banquet had been yesterday. He narrowed his eyes, desperately wanting to know if she had been mistreated there and what exactly had happened.

But Natalie simply said she tripped. She was treating him like an outsider, refusing to vent her grievances to him.

He could only ask, "Did you go to the doctor? Is it bad? Why didn't you take the day off?"

"I put some medicine on it. If it was that bad, I'd be lying in a hospital right now, not here." She smiled.

Her already luminous, breathtaking face broke into a smile, making one inevitably think of a stunning hibiscus in late autumn.

He was momentarily captivated, frantically pulling his gaze away to adjust the servo controller in his hand.

"Hey." A soft voice whispered near his ear, and a pair of slender, porcelain hands took the device from him. "You've got it backward."

His eyes subconsciously followed her, watching as her pristine fingers gently and slowly turned the angle knob, adjusting it bit by bit until it was perfectly centered before stopping.

He had been so distracted that he'd made a rookie mistake. His face instantly burned red.

Once Natalie fixed it, she handed it back and went back to her own work.
