Nancy suddenly burst out laughing. "You make it sound like we're having a secret affair, haha."

Natalie laughed too, covering her mouth to stop herself from spitting out her rice.

Just as the atmosphere was light and comfortable, a message popped up from Hassan, asking where she was. He had probably gone home for dinner and couldn't find her.

Natalie hadn't even told the maid she wasn't coming home for dinner. She just powered off her phone, too exhausted to deal with him.

That night, after washing up, she lay on the bed and applied her medicine. She had just finished when Nancy knocked on the door. "Natalie, the bastard is here."

Natalie paused for a second before walking over to open the door. "What bastard?"

Nancy grabbed her arm and pulled her to the front door, gesturing up at the security camera monitor.

Hassan was standing right outside. His tall, broad-shouldered frame was sharp and imposing, his deep eyes cold and composed, his strong nose sharp and striking. He wore a dark button-down shirt, the sleeves casually rolled up to his forearms, revealing his prominent wrist bones.

"What is he doing here?" Nancy looked at Natalie. "Are you going to go out there?"

Natalie's phone had been off ever since Hassan sent that first message.

She figured Hassan would be angry, but she never expected him to come straight to Nancy's place.

Her whereabouts were easy to predict—she was either at the hospital with Yvonne or here at Nancy's.

"Ignore him." Natalie turned to head back to her room.

Nancy's phone suddenly rang. It was the hospital. "Ms. Gaines, are you certain you want to transfer Lemuel Steele to another hospital?"

When Natalie had arranged her grandfather's hospitalization, she listed two emergency contacts: herself and Nancy.

Natalie had never authorized any transfer. Her eyes turned ice-cold as she stared at the door. She grabbed Nancy's phone and snapped, "Cancel the transfer."

"Nancy, I'm going to step out for a minute." Natalie knew that phone call was Hassan's threat.
