She swallowed hard, letting out a laugh that sounded more like a pathetic scoff.
"Hassan, don't you get it? I want to end our marriage!" Her voice turned sharp. "Divorce is the only option we have left!"
His face darkened as he pulled her into his arms. "Natalie, marriages can survive without love. People who don't love each other can still be husband and wife."
His fingertips traced the dimples on her lower back, sending a shiver through her. "Our bodies know each other perfectly. Isn't that enough?"
A tear slipped from the corner of her eye. She looked up at his handsome, chiseled face and replied bitterly, "That might be what marriage is to you, but I don't want it."
She was capable of loving someone fiercely, but she was equally capable of walking away without a second thought.
She had thought that as long as she was willing to let go, their relationship would finally be over. She never expected Hassan to be the wild card.
"Hassan, didn't you promise to let me go? You even signed the divorce papers," she whispered, her lips trembling.
Hassan's Adam's apple bobbed. He stared at her fragile form in his arms. Her clear, tear-filled eyes looked up at him, the corners tinted a faint red that stood out vividly against her fair, luminous skin.
Unable to stop himself, he held her tighter, leaning down to gently kiss the corners of her lips, then trailing kisses up to her tear-stained eyes. The salty taste of her tears lingered on his lips.
His kisses deepened.
He stripped off his clothes and carried her into the bathtub.
Natalie had picked out this curved, oversized double bathtub herself, easily spacious enough for two.
Unfortunately, he was always so busy after they got married that they rarely took baths together.
But tonight, it was as if he wanted to make up for all the time he owed her, taking her again and again in the warm, rippling water.
And through it all, he made sure to focus entirely on her, ensuring her pleasure.
The warm bathroom lights cast a soft, radiant glow over them.
Natalie had a naturally porcelain complexion, looking almost translucent under the lighting, and he couldn't keep his hands off her.
Exhausted, Natalie didn't wake up until noon the next day.
Unlike the usual mornings, she didn't wake up in an empty bedroom.
