Once they returned to their normal work routines, Hassan had to prepare for the launch event of the new robot, while Natalie was busy rehearsing for her upcoming underwater dance recording.
The two of them seemed to have reached an unspoken agreement: to coexist as peacefully as possible for their remaining two months.
Occasionally, Natalie would hear updates about Adrian through phone calls from Mia.
Even though Mia was young, she understood the dynamic between Adrian and Natalie. Naturally, she took Natalie's side, and whatever friendship she had with the boy was effectively over.
Mia viewed Adrian as the enemy now. Secretly reporting on his activities had become her self-assigned 'secret agent mission'—a mission Natalie had certainly never asked her to do.
One day, while she was having lunch with Nancy at Sunriver Residences, her phone buzzed with a video call from Mia.
"I tripped Adrian today! Hahaha! But then the teacher caught me. Ugh."
Natalie sighed. "...Focus on your classes. Stop doing things like that."
"Oh, whatever. I just stuck my foot out. He's the one who walked right into it."
Natalie was speechless.
Nancy laughed and shook her head. "Careful, or your teacher is going to call your parents."
"Blah, blah, blah, I'm not scared! My butt has built up immunity to spankings by now!" Mia leaned her little face closer to the screen. "Oh, by the way, Natalie, I noticed Adrian wearing a really unique watch. It looks exactly like yours."
Natalie paused, her fork hovering in the air. "Does it have a black casing, and when the screen lights up, does it show the letters N.H.?"
"Yeah! Exactly!"
Natalie exchanged a few more words before hanging up the call.
With the kid gone, Nancy finally let out a string of curses. "That piece of trash actually gave the watch you made to his mistress's kid! Are you kidding me?!" She fanned herself aggressively to cool down. "He's completely thinking with his dick instead of his brain! Unbelievable!"
