Aside from Adrian, there wasn't a single other little boy in the world who could waltz in and take Cup from their house.
"Where is he?" Natalie asked.
"He's in the study," Faye replied.
Natalie lowered her eyes and let it drop. As long as she didn't have to see him openly parading around with another woman while they were still married, she didn't care.
She was too tired to deal with the rest.
Twenty minutes later, Natalie sat at the dining table, enjoying a bowl of warm artisan bisque that Faye had prepared.
The porcelain spoon clinked softly against the rim of the bowl. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Faye hurried over to answer it. The moment the door swung open, the joyful barking of a puppy echoed through the hall.
Natalie glanced over. The little boy stood in the doorway, his cheeks flushed from running, holding the leash. Gardenia was with him, and so was Jacob. Gardenia smiled as she peered inside, making direct eye contact with Natalie.
Natalie took one last sip of her bisque and set her spoon down.
"Natalie, what are you doing here?" Jacob's voice rang out first.
Natalie didn't even bother to look at him. "Are you legally illiterate? Hassan and I are legally married. I'm his wife. If I'm not here, who is? You want to be his wife instead?"
"You're psycho. Where's Hassan? I need to talk to him." Jacob swaggered inside. As he passed Natalie, he flicked the spoon in her bowl. "Look at the time. You're still eating? Aren't you supposed to stay in shape for your dancing? You're going to get fat."
Natalie gritted her teeth. "None of your damn business!"
Gardenia walked in, gently chastising him. "Jacob, you shouldn't speak to a woman like that."
Jacob scoffed. "She's a woman? Could've fooled me."
"That's because you're blind," Natalie shot back.
Hearing the commotion, Hassan stepped out of his study. His gaze landed indifferently on Jacob. "What do you want?"
