Two soft chimes of the doorbell broke the silence. The volume was low, but clear.

Hassan walked out a few steps.

Natalie got out of bed and changed into a fitted white dress shirt and a pair of nude trousers, picking out a simple belt to match.

She had assumed it was the hotel staff delivering their food, but as she was tying a ribbon around her neck, she heard the voice drifting in.

Gardenia's voice sounded a bit weak. "It might be the change in environment. I just haven't been feeling well."

"I have a doctor friend here. You can go see him. I'll head over to the work site with the others first," Hassan said.

"No, I want to go with you guys. It's just a little discomfort. It won't get in the way of my work," she insisted stubbornly.

"Then I'll ask my friend to see if there's any medication you can take."

"Okay..." Gardenia paused for a moment before speaking again. "Were you with Natalie last night?"

The man replied evenly, "She wasn't feeling well and needed someone to look after her."

Standing in the room, a wave of nausea washed over Natalie, making her want to throw up.

He made it sound as though she had been clinging to him.

She had been perfectly fine last night. When was she ever unwell? Since when did she need looking after? Was he looking after her with his lower half?

"I thought you'd come back. I even ordered your breakfast," she said.

"It's fine. I was just about to head up for breakfast anyway."

He closed the door and left without even giving Natalie a word of greeting.

Not long after the two of them left, room service arrived.

"Hello, your ordered meal has arrived. Is it convenient for us to set it up for you?"
