A voice behind her stopped her. "Natalie."
Her body instantly went rigid. Hadn't the two of them left ages ago? How could she have bumped into them here? What awful luck.
It was indeed Hassan and Gardenia standing behind her.
Gardenia took the initiative to speak. "Why are you here?"
She replied casually, "I'm here for fun. What a coincidence. You guys are hanging out here too?"
Gardenia let out a scoffing laugh. "You're here for fun?"
She walked over. "This place isn't meant as a playground for empty-headed people."
Hassan, accompanying Gardenia, walked right past her and straight into the venue.
It was as if he was treating her like thin air.
Gardenia magnanimously looked back at her. "You can come with us. Otherwise, it would be pretty embarrassing if someone came up to discuss things with you later and you had nothing to say."
"If I get embarrassed, that's my problem. I won't bother you with it." Natalie scanned her code and walked in.
Gardenia pressed on, "How did you get an invitation? You don't seem to have the connections for it."
"Ms. Sutton, I am Mrs. Carlson, after all. Is there any invitation in the world that the Carlson Family can't get their hands on?" she retorted.
Gardenia didn't say anything more and headed in the same direction as Hassan.
Natalie had known they were together all along, so she was virtually immune to it by now. It didn't trigger any feelings in her.
A curved corridor connected the entrance to the main venue, with access points on both sides. She took the opposite path, naturally avoiding them altogether.
The walls of the corridor were lined with introductions to outstanding projects, as well as profiles of academic giants and top industry elites. Among them was Trenton Yates, the teacher Hassan had hired for Adrian.
The two curved corridors connected to a wide entranceway, bustling with people coming and going.
